The last posts before yesterday were about the possibility of Real/Liverpool/United poaching him. Now he's a waste of money and one of our biggest problems. FFS.

As I said, he’s not a bad player at all. The fact he was bought for an outgoing manager sums up what’s wrong with our club though.
Wouldn't him being a consistent performer and probably one of the first names on the team sheet for a new manager who plays a completely different style be a sign the club nailed that one?

He is a good player and I feel for him being asked to perform a very unusual, specific full back role.

My issue here is Levy spending £40m on a wing back, when he was about to lose/fire the coach playing wing backs.

I’ll be honest if people have given him abuse for a tweet like that they aren’t the brightest either because we’re short of top class players and alienating one of the only ones we have currently would be low on my list of priorities.

And, as I said at the time, the worst thing is he was signed for Conte when the club knew he was 99% certain to leave.
Amazing decision to spend £40m.

I’m not saying he’s a bad player but as you say, square peg round hole.
💯 mate! Top player just signed for the wrong manager when the writing was on the wall that said manager would likely be leaving soon.

This is why we are never successful because our strategy and recruitment is essentially non existent.

All comes back to Levy’s shitshow. Flip flopping from Poch to Mourinho to Conte to Ange and expecting them to be able to work with their predecessor’s squad.
Playing styles totally different and in the case of Conte to Ange, polar opposites.

We’ve signed some very good players over the years, we just sack the man who signs them.

Porro looks great when we're full strength and sharp. Porro struggles when the team struggles and he is overworked. I think he's a brilliant player, personally.

It was very weird at the time. From memory we spent the whole window haggling over the deal then ended up paying what Sporting asked for in the first week of negotiations. Standard Levy.

Porro has been one of our best players this season and is one of the best full backs in the league.

It’s typical though. Lose a match and some of you literally go into every thread and post toxic shit. Grow up.

I think Porro’s a quality player. I’ll admit that defending isn’t his strongest suit but no fullback would look defensively sound in this system we play. It’s an impossible ask with the amount of work he has to do and a winger in front of him who does nothing to help him out.

A wing back being asked to play fullback. But we knew that when we signed him. Same with udogie on the other side. Need some proper fullbacks in. I watched Fulham yesterday and both theirs were more impressive as proper fullbacks than ours.

Aside from sponsor related stuff, I've no idea why any professional athlete would want social media. A hiding to nothing.

It is such a fucking embarrassment that this keeps happening.

It's symptomatic of problems on social media in general, and whilst there are certainly plenty of toxic fans contributing there'll be a percentage of hate/disagreement trolls/bots mixed in as well who help facilitate that.

Not saying that the club is being targeted or anything, they're absolutely everywhere nowadays, but I think we might be a bit more vulnerable to their effects right now.

Edit: Also Porro is great, the amount of running he gets through is ridiculous especially when Johnson really doesn't offer the same for whatever reason. What would help both him and Destiny is a DM who is comfortable dropping in deep to help the defence spread and cover those gaps.
Bissouma & Bentancur aren't that guy, Gray can become it over time but he can't do it alone.

Great going forward and in possession, but a lacks positional awareness and gets caught ball watching.

Having said that, he needs a rest.

He would be an amazing wing back with an extra centre back to help cover any defensive issues. What he was brought for.
