Did anyone see the in house interview with Ange, Clive Allen said he thought Pape was really good on Sunday and Ange said Maddison got the headlines and rightly so but he thought Sarr was the best player on the pitch.
Said he seemed to look at Bergval beside him and thought I'm the senior player here and stepped up.
I think that's the kind of step change players go through in their development happening in real time.

I totally agree. Pape ran that match for us. He's gonna be some player if he carries on his current trajectory.

Think thats a few times now he's got booked early on but still seen the rest of the match out brilliantly.

Was a stupid booking. But how prior to that the utd player was not booked for his assault on Spence is beyond me

I can’t be the only one who is massively concerned with the lack of progress Sarr is making.

Last night he was made to look like the plucky young kid by Bergvall who is 4 years younger.

He doesn’t have any real fight, he lacks composure on the ball, he doesn’t have great awareness of danger happening around him and he doesn’t seem to understand the game.

People might say it’s Anges tactics but Bergvall does all the things that Sarr doesn’t as does Bentancur. We have a real problem with Sarr and Bissouma, two players who simply are not good enough and should be squad players at best, in my opinion.

This is absolutely nonsense.

I don't think his lack of fight last night was helped by getting a silly yellow for kicking the ball away. Had to be more careful after that.

Oh, come on... The season of the experts, who are telling that he can't pass, can't shoot, can't dribble or does not have a great technique is open. Relax, guys.

There has been some progression, but I think Sarr needs to go one of two ways - get more physically strong to play a central or deep midfielder role, or progress into a breaking into the box midfield who scores more.

I don’t think our injuries and suspensions have helped Pape (and others) focus on a role and develop skills for that role. He is being asked to do a range of things across different games and I think it’s harming his development.

I have hope for him still, it certainly has potential to unlock.

I actually don't think we've got any bad midfielders. They are all pretty good imo. We just don't have any standouts like Dembele, Carrick or Modric. I think trying to improve upon our CM options will be much harder than many think and spending a decent sum to upgrade on the likes of Sarr, probably won't result in any notable difference. While spending big on wide attacking players would see us fly up the table.

The problem with Sarr and Bissouma is that they are consistently inconsistent. One matchthread I see somesone shouting out about how "Sarr what a performance! Clearly the answer!", then the next game he's shithouse and shouldn't be near the squad. It's even more chaotic with Bissouma.

The simple fact is that neither of those players has been consistent enough across the last two season but it's reasonable to take Sarr's age into account. Neither should be in our starting midfield. Midfield getting sloppy, legs getting tired? Then get one of those guys on. That's what you need them for, when the midfield starts to get bullied physically.

Bentacur has been the only player consistently good enough to play Ange's style and it feels like he's been injured something like 80% of the last two seasons.

I really don't think though that Ange's system is ever going to work until that midfield becomes consistently top class and that at the moment relies on Bentacur miraculously getting fit, while through some miracle Bergvall and Gray absorb three years of Prem experience in three weeks. It's not like we're going to sign anyone at the level of Bentacur in January.
