He really is a fantastic all rounder. Definitely a bit of Viera about him.

I loved his little passing range he had going yesterday, he was popping it about non stop.

And his reading of the game was top drawer, those interceptions higher up the pitch were crucial.

For me he should be starting most weeks with Kulusevski.

Bissouma and Bentancur giving is great depth at 6, and the latter covrering Sarr as well.
I think it's horses for courses. Against tougher opponents he is definitely needed, but I can see the us trying the Madders/Kulu partnership with one of Bentancur or Bissouma mopping up behind.

On a separate note, it's so cool to sub a knackered Bentancur for a fresh Bissouma (or vice versa) - gives the opposition no respite.

Well yes mate, it is.

But a lot of our games our physical tussels, then having Sarr, Kulu and one of Biss/Bents is the way to go imo.

Maddison is still going to start a lot of games.

All about setting up to allow us to compete so our quality can prevail.

Is it just my imagination, or has he bulked up a smidge? He looks stronger and faster.

Have to commend his attitude too. As there is decent competition in the midfield areas. He’s not a guaranteed starter. I feel like having extra competition… in particular, the younger lads like Archie and Lucas, have probably lit a fire in his belly.

There’s been some passages of play and periods during a game where he has looked imperious.

This may be the season where we see him transition from a highly rated prospect to an elite PL 8.

Hands down was the best midfielder on the field yesterday. And that’s saying something considering how well Kulu and Bentancur played.

Interestingly, I think through a little trial and error, Ange has probably found the best balance for our midfield with those three.

Conte made a lot of bad decisions during his time here, and not giving Pape a real chance was definitely one of the worst.

remember the hot weather training with Conte where only he and Parrott where running at the end while everyone else blew chunks? Those hard yards are so important as his ability to run and press is exceptional

Incredible today. I know Maddison got the two goals, but thought Sarr and Deki really stood out.

I love how he has quietly regained his spot after being dropped earlier in the season.

He’s a lot of the glue for us in midfield.

Didn’t see it with him initially, how wrong I was. Imagine when he starts adding more goals to his game!

He had to up his game that bit more when Bissoma got a stupid yellow card 20 seconds in and that is credit to him more
