I did watch the Norwich match and Skipp had a solid game 7/10, he played the full 90+5 and he is going to play at lot of football this year.

As always he works so hard for the team and today was not different 16min into the first half he make two tackles in the middle of the pitch takes a knock on the second tackle but wins the ball and Norwich are now on the attack because of it.

He finished the game just as strong as he started it and what I did find very funny was towards the end of the match two old Spurs players in Alex Pritchard and Jaden Brown both took a turn in taking Skipp out with bad tackles because I think they had enough of him at this point.

Only two thing he got a bit wrong on the day in the second half he got nutmegged on the edge of his own box and the player nearly scored but it was good skill by the player to be honest, the second one was he spotted a runner going behind his back four and he done the right thing and he went with the runner and got to the ball first but then he played a weak ball down the line and gave the ball back to them but other than those two thing he was solid as he is in most games.

He is a player that will be a six or seven out of ten most weeks and what you can notice without crowds you will hear the Norwich manager saying the name Skipp a lot and is always talking to him and I think the manager like having a player on the pitch who can do what he is telling them.

Skipp is a player that likes to outwork opposition players and he will graft until he drops and if we get back a fitter and stronger Oliver Skipp next year the we have a player that can help the first team.

But if you want to debate I'm up for it. We’ve lost some well rounded defensively solid midfielders in recent seasons. Wanyama and Dembele. Ndombele replaced Dembele and Hojbjerg appears to ge replacing Wanyama. But Wanyama was a proper screening DM. Hojbjerg is not. Now the tactical view of Jose might well lend to the new personnel, but I've always thought we needed more strength in that defensive area.

I'd prefer Dier to totally focus on being the best CB he can be.

If its a lack of squad space, I would forgo Foyth for a proper DM.

If i could choose signings to complete MY perfect squad, I'd sign a striker, a number 8/10, a DM amd a LB in that order.
I agree with your choice within squad to specialise in that DM position. Hojbjerg as you say, is not a defensive wall, and tends to leave that area to advance forward, hence his decent offensive stats.
Forth has the defensive credentials of a CB with the Argentinian flair to adapt to that DM specialist position. He plays heads up and is decent with his feet. His cameos in the RWB position support this.
Skipp was desperate to get a solid run of game time to further is skill base as well as his stamina and general whataboutery in the adult game. Norwich will provide that platform in an encouraging environment. He won MoM in the opening game yesterday.
Like you, I think if we can acquire a striker and a decent upgrade on a specialist LWB, we are going to be in good shape. The DM position is not urgent per se and is dependant on how the midfield is set up ny Mourinho.

Great to see Skipp have a great debut. Shame he isn't with us this season. At this point if his development was handled properly I did expect him to be a regular member of the first team but he's still young. I'd argue he's probably our best DM, or defensive minded CM now but I am confident he will be next season if he is back with us.

Glad he has impressed the Norwich fans early on as well, it means if he has eventual slump, they will be aware of how good he can be and support him, when he loses a bit of form

To be honest, I'd rather have Skippy in the squad than Sissoko, especially after yesterday's showing.
Really pleased to see him getting games though, also getting rave reviews after his first outing.
He's going to come back a better player for it.

Haha I love that Brown tried to take him out at the end. They probably both laughed about it after.

He's the only DM I've seen that I think can reach Sandro's level, and if he settles and gets comfortable and his role allows him, he will hopefully display more of his cavalier football. A decent creator, and ball carrier. Not so much, shooter, dribbler or sprayer of a pass though. Definitely one of the best I've seen under pressure, being able to feint and escape tight situations.

This is long term the best thing for him and us. If he was here this year we wouldn't have given him anywhere near enough minutes, especially as CM is still swamped. Next year we may have more space for him and he can work into displacing someone in that midfield. His game seems to be such that he could displace either of Winks or Hojbjerg in the long term.

Did not watch the game today but from what Norwich fans are saying he did not have the best of games today but he played the full 90min.

there's a whole bunch more along the same lines too. unfortunately norwich seem to be getting picked apart with lewis having left for newcastle, cantwell going to leeds and buendia probably going somewhere, wouldn't count on aarons and/or godfrey still being there by the end of the window either.

Sounds like they might need some more players. I wonder who else we could loan to them.
