Deserves another start as he played well enough during the week to merit another start. Gives other players a rest before the Champions League game
Skipp has been highly rated for many years now. It’s not easy to stand out in the academy when you’re this type of player.
The reason he stood out was his tenacity, reading of the game and decision making on the ball.
He could be an excellent DM for us if given the chance.
I’m glad he’s been given some game time now and as another home grown product, and with the predicament we’re currently in, I’m willing him to be a success
Unfortunately so far I’ve seen nothing that suggests he will be. Other than lasting 120mins the other night, which is pretty amazing, given his lack of football
Ok he’s 19 and he’s hardly kicked a ball for us, but, being so highly thought of and with Jose’s coaching and experience I was hoping for more
Hope I’m wrong but you normally see a glimpse or glimpses that a lad can step up and has something. I’ve seen nothing so far. Hope I do soon because he won’t have long before injured players return and new blood will have to come in..
His style of play isn't one that is going to be particularly appreciated by a lot of fans and even less so at the age of 19.
What is his style of play? What player would you liken him to?
Darren Fletcher, also similar to Winks but a bit more defensively astute. I haven't seen much of him but can tell already our fanbase most likely won't be thrilled if he's who we choose to go with within our midfield as he doesn't fit into a Ndidi defensive midfield type role or somebody who plays killer through balls constantly like Eriksen/Maddison. Looks to me like the type of player who is tenacious, has reasonable ability at turning out of trouble and can grab a game by the scruff of the neck and recycle possession well.
I also think he understands space well always looking for itHe times his tackles really well. I'm impressed by that.
He is not a DM though. And that seems to be where is being played.
For me if we were to get a top notch (or potentially elite) DM and perhaps a back up I think Winks, Skipp, Gio, Sissoko and Tanguy provide us really good options in the centre of midfield with those specialist defensive players. I think that could the basis of an excellent squad and something to build around over the next 18 months.
Said this for so longHe is not a DM though. And that seems to be where is being played.
