If Leeds get promoted would their manager, Daniel Farke, be interested in skippy . He was manager of Norwich when Skipp had a season loan with them in the Champ, was one of their best players.

Sarr replaces him as homegrown. I think we're ok on that regard.

I mean, we’re OK in that we’ve still got a decent squad, but any HG player is still an extra player available in the squad in Europe until we get a couple more.

If we’re happier having a smaller squad in Europe then Ok. I just like the security of an extra player who I suspect is good enough to help close games out. Bergvall helps mitigate that, and if one or two of the kids step up that will definitely make Skipp surplus to requirements.

I'm not saying if we should or shouldn't sell him. Just pointing out we don't need to keep him from a numbers perspective.

Not keeping him reduces our European squad by one though, doesn’t it? Am I getting it wrong? Thought that there were four spots reserved for club-trained players. I mean, if we think kids will be enough to make up the shortfall that’s fine, but presumably it’s Sarr and a couple of keepers.

Skipp really needs to leave in the summer for the sake of his own career to be brutally honest.
This is it, nailed on. He needs to move for his sake. He doesn't fit our system and there is too much ahead of him. It's only great being homegrown if you are usable. Let him thrive elsewhere for a system and club that suits him well. He is a very dependable player and no one is ever going to complain if he stays, but he would be a reluctant start at best and only suitable off the bench in certain situations.

i like skippy i do think he's better than what he has shown of late but he needs to be sold. He doesnt really fit what ange looks for in a midfielder.

Maybe we could use both Skipp and Rodon in a deal for Archie Gray.

We should be braver with our youth and trust in it like United have done with Mainoo.

The thing is though, not just Spurs fans in general, but very notably members of this forum, for the last 20 years, have consistently called for our youngsters to be "given a chance" etc or to be loaned to a lower half Prem team or Championship team, when they are nearly always absolutely nowhere near ready for our first team or any first team in the higher echelons of English football. We've seen the Welsh Rooney (Hiller or something like that), the Irish Rooney (ginger guy whose name escapes me), Dean Parrott, Troy Parrott, John Bostock, Alex Pritchard, Veljkovic, Reo Griffiths and loads more that our fans were convinced needed to be given an opportunity, when they just weren't ready. Right now our youngest ever goal scorer isn't always starting for Plymouth! I even think Mourinho only played Troy Parrott to prove to our fans that they simply don't have a clue of how big the difference is between standing out at youth level and being ready for senior football.

I just think it's highly unlikely that our coaching staff wouldn't put a youngster in because they aren't brave enough to do so. It's just much more likely that they see in training everyday that they aren't ready.

I think he still has 1-2 more years to improve by training/learning with/from better players.
Afterwards he would need to find a club that matches his level; whether that is with us who knows.

I've said many times that he is a really dependable member of the squad and almost certainly on cheap wages so we have much bigger fish to fry

That said, he now hasn't played since 3 Feb and he's not even been in 3 of the 7 match day squads since then so he is clearly something like 7th choice (8th if you prefer Kulusevski as an ACM) for 3

He has a contract until 2027 so we have the luxury of keeping him another season (especially if we plan to upgrade on PEH) but I'd suggest loaning him out to a Prem club and see if he can pull up trees like he did with Norwich then make a decision next summer. That or just sell him (if anybody has any money to spend!) but you would definitely want one of our youth to be considered ready to replace him and only the coaches know that

Edit: We'll have Bergvall of course

@Trix has pointed out that our academy hasn’t been up to scratch for a few years now. However Paratici et al. Have clearly done loads of work to change that.

With the likes of Donley, Moore, Dorrington looking good and Ash Philips and Devine being in there, we really will need to create a pathway to the first team more. Utd, City and Liverpool have each got some great club trained youngsters in their teams. We need to get there. So packing out the squad at CB for example isn’t always going to help us longer term. We need to trust when the time is right and I am not sure we will do that over the next couple of years.

Skipp clearly needs the games and the trust to grow we aren’t going to give him that so he should look to move on
