That's fine by me.

I love Moussa and really appreciate his qualities but if we're being really truthful with ourselves our performances in terms of fluidity dropped more so once he became a regular starter, especially against teams that set up with men against the ball.

When a game is stretched he's an asset as he can burst forward with the ball but as teams adapted to our style of play it's become tougher. Dembele had such incredible ability of holding the ball which allowed us to be play in tighter spaces and force through defences. Sissoko doesn't possess excellent close control which has meant we've found it harder to create against defensive blocks.

Winks will be able to focus on what he's good at.

If one person is to be the fall guy, it needs to be Sissoko.
Spot on, good player but not good enough for where we want to be or how we should be playing.

Sissoko will be played as a defensive winger, as he was on Saturday when introduced.

I very much doubt we'll see him in the middle again for us.

Let's see if he plays as much.

One thing I will say is that his new contract was quite recent, Poch did say it wasn't his choice (or words to that effect) which we found strange at the time. I wonder if Mourinho had a role in that. It's not like the new contract was a necessity.

In light of what's happened to Toby and Eriksen I'm pretty sure Levy is on high alert over players running their contracts down.

Mourinho did love Fellani through so does have a thing for weird players lol...

(although I think Fellani has a lot more ability than Sissoko tbh, he’s just not your typical pretty footballer in his style).

Just one game but seems quite clear this is the beginning of the end for Sissoko as a starter

As much as he improved Winks / Sissoko as a regular midfield, no specialist DM and our drop in form and defensive stability seems too close together to be a coincidence

Fellani scores goals though.

One thing is for sure, if Jose can get Sissoko not to forget how to be a professional footballer when he gets near the oppositions goal then he really is a genius.

If the last 6 months, never mind last 30 years, has demonstrated... nothing is ever remotely clear with Spurs

Possibly, but Winks and Ndombele complicate that. Especially if we invest in a CDM, which I think is likely; then we’ll have cover for all three midfield positions: CDM-Dier/New player, CM- Ndombele/Winks, CAM- Dele/GLC.

I think he’ll get some game time off the bench but I wouldn’t be surprised if we sell him in the summer window. If he can make himself indispensable then great, his ability to cover ground, disrupt play and bulldoze through the lines are great when they work well. But I’d be surprised
Well yes, but I see Sissoko being a popular option for Jose. The Fellaini "carnage" option.

Hope we are looking at Florentino Luis for DM, reminds me of prime Sandro.

Can't see Sissoko making it in a Jose squad. Fortunately his progression means we should get good money for him. He is an amazing athlete but technically he is nowhere near good enough. Personally although he turned me around with his effort I will be glad to see more talented footballers in our team. 10/10 for effort though.

No idea if it'd work but i would still love to see Sissoko given an extended run at rightback while our options are limited.

All of our RB options have flaws. However in their first match under Jose, Aurier seriously upped his game whilst Sissoko was embarrassingly bad, including constantly losing possession and getting skinned on the right flank. He does everything too slowly to be able to compete with the likes of Mane.

He had a bad first 20 minutes under Jose, but let's not allow that to discredit the work he has done defensively on that right flank over the past year and a half covering for the likes of Trippier and Aurier in their [often suicidal] runs forward. Sissoko is, if nothing else, an athlete. It's very rare you see him get beat like he did in that one instance on Saturday, and regardless of what you say, no winger is going to have an easy time physically getting around an athlete like him. He is very strong and quick, and knows how to use his body pretty well.

he likes big slowdefensive mids who lack mobility and have next to no footballing ability. Good thing we don’t have ay of them...:cautious:

Surprised nobody has posted this today....sounds like we wont be seeing him much, that new deal is looking great now.

"When I see Moussa, he is a very good player, but he is very different than my needs. I need that stability from Dier and the kid to move the ball faster, also positionally and also to find the attacking players in the positions we want."
