I appreciate what he's done for us. At one point his physical effort and attitude was virtually carrying us single handedly when everybody else was going through the motions. However, we now have an ageing player on relatively high wages who currently has a bit of residual value, but not for much longer. If we could swap him out for an upgrade with some extra cash injected it would be a no brainer for me.

But he's not just a "C" because he's pushing other players to hit higher grades. His influence in the team is hugely undermentioned - he is a leader in the squad. People forget when we played him with Winks how much he protected Winks on the pitch. He practically gave Winks and Aurier a platform to do what they needed to do. It may not have worked tactically but that was what he was asked to do.
If him being around the squad as a leader figure helps Gedson, Skipp, Tanganga and Bergwijn develop as more confident stronger players then I'd gladly keep him.

If players like John o'Shea can be kept at United as a squad player and win numerous titles, I would gladly keep Sissoko as a back up midfielder to come in and do a job and help out youngsters progress
Regardless of what tactics he is told to play his technical ability is not good enough. I seriously question that he influences and is a leader. Our defensive midfield for the most part of the last two seasons have been outplayed and made to look like headless chickens. Dembele and Wanyama when fit were rocks in the middle who influenced and were leaders.

yeh after I wrote it I realized it was Cirkin I think that was in trouble and Moussa refused to show for him instead didn’t make an angle or path for the pass and pointed and after Cirkin passed it you could see he wasnt happy with Moussa

I said in the match thread, it was so obvious how he hid from the ball today... was rather embarrassing for him. I think he needs to play wide or be brought on as a finisher.

Be brought on as a finisher?

I’ve got to ask if you are in the correct thread.

its a quite well known phrase to be fair. To see the game out once were winning.
Ah ok. I’d suggest “finisher” is hugely more known to mean “someone who can finish”, like a striker.
If I wanted to say “someone we could take on to help us see a game out”, I’d probably say “ someone we can take on to help us see a game out”.

paulinho was the best player I’ve ever seen at hiding from a pass from his team mates. World class at it. Sissoko has work to do to get to his level!:ROFLMAO:

I’d explain that currently we are scraping through our games and getting a result out of a lot of them through a mixture of good fortune and A tactical performance which means we have to surrender possession to the opposition in order to counter.

However, I personally believe that it will be hard to maintain this points per game over the duration of a season unless we learn to be creative in possession whilst being the dominant team.

I agree that he can be a useful asset, especially when we do not have a lot of possession. But I do not believe we should have a player in the team who we have to Almost exclude from our plan of play when we have possession. Arguably some teams use their goalkeepers more in possession then we use sissoko and that’s due to his lack of ability on the ball.

there is no reason why we shouldn’t aspire to have a player who can do what sissoko does plus can contribute more to our play.
“Surrendering possession” is a default setting whenever Sissoko is on the ball.

As a ‘fan‘ im sick of Sissoko’s short comings. Not interested in all the hype around his ‘physical attributes’. My dog is strong and quick, doesn’t mean I want him in my spurs shirt.

Time we call an egg an egg. Sissoko is a footballer, and a not very good one at that.

Quel response: “He allows others to play due to his work rate bollocks”. I want to watch football played the right way, not kick and run.

Fighting for territory as Sissoko plays another % pass into a “half decent area” is not my idea of watching the “beautiful game”.

Why is it that Sissoko is confident enough to pass the ball forward especially compared to the of rest of the team? Considering he’s not hated you’d think the other players would take note and take more risks.

I think something was mentioned in the past few days, in regards to the documentary, that we'll be suprised at how influential Sissoko is. He doesn't appear to be particularly vocal on the pitch so my guess is that he holds a bit of weight in the dressing room.

He's a horrible footballer to watch at times. No grace whatsoever...He does posses some very useful attributes though. He's tall, fast, strong, versatile, experienced, no-drama and will run for days. There's a reason he has 60 odd caps for France.

He does it all the time, but it was especially inexcusable today. The man has 14 years of professional experience, over 500 club appearances and 60 international appearances yet he was still hiding from the ball in a pre season friendly against mid table Championship opposition while pointing to teenage teammates to receive the ball instead. Shocking. And when he does get the ball, it's a race to get rid of it as quickly as possible to the first teammate he sees, which quite often is the teammate that just gave him the ball.

I can't recall a footballer who seems more scared to actually see the ball. When he's in the final third, he always reminds me of a cat unexpectedly seeing a cucumber.

Almost as if he’s happy when there’s a turn over of possession and we’re out of possession so he can steam roll and bulldoze his way into opposition to show off his strength and power.

Great at times, but so ineffective at home chasing a goal vs a steaming pile of shit defending the edge of their box.

I guess I'm not alone in seeing Sissoko as just continuously pointing for the ball carrier to pass it backwards, sideways or to anyone else but him. He points for non-existent team mates to go mark or close the opposition down before actually doing it himself. It's what cost us a pen in the only final we've gotten to in years. When he does the only single thing he's good at - powerful runs from the centre circle, unless there's a simple 5 yard pass at the end of it, he has no idea what to do with it. I say absolutely sell him now - his only purpose is to keep Aurier and N'Dombele happy and they're both off!

He is such a strange player. He never shows for the ball and is poor with it yet for several months he was a player we couldnt do without and sort of missed when he got injured

His best position has to be wide right in a 4-2-3-1 but he has no composure, craft or composure. I cant think of another player like GM

Mourinho is not stupid. He even said it himself he doesnt see him in a central 2 but was forced to play him there

We have Winks Lo Celso Hojbjerg and hopefully White ahead of him in that position

True. It’s because we had no CM. Him and winks were our only option. A poor player and no better than Freund, Parker or Brown.

He is chaos, when a team is playing well he will disrupt the flow and struggle

But when they are lacking creativity and struggling to move the ball around and create, he will come in like a house on fire and just do what is not expected of him confusing the opposite team and create space for his teammates
