Can anyone give some insight on how the Korean league compares to some of the European leagues?

It looks like he stands out in the K-League in the same way Bergvall stood out in Sweden, but I’d have no idea how the two would compare.

I’m guessing it’d be unrealistic to expect him to make an immediate impact, much as Bergvall is clearly talented but needs time to develop.
J League stan here which is a similar level. On a par with/possibly a little better than nearly all the smaller leagues I'd say. Obvs nowhere near top 5 or Portugal/Netherlands etc but it's not like the Belorussian league or anything. Might get pelters for this but think MLS or a little bit above possibly. That kind of level. It's not terrible by any means but the strength of competition is not quite there yet. Upsets a-plenty for example.

I'd say maybe a loan for 6 months would do him good or he could be used like Bergvall who you compare him to with valid reason IMO. More of a sub than a starter for now. The Prem is unlike anything in terms of speed etc plus he's going to not just a different country but culture too.

Yeah, I wouldn't loan him out, especially with our track record and such a huge culture change, we don't need him sitting on the bench at Wigan wondering what the fuck is going on, let Son help him settle, show him around for 6 months and see if he goes up a level in training.

Yeah, agree, from January to May keep him around the squad with Son. If we think he needs a loan after that, send him to a club in Belgium.

It might be worth forging a good relationship with a club like Westerloo, not one of the big guns in Belgium but a club in need of some consistent loan help from a club like us.

Only issue with Westerlo is, they don't play with wingers at the moment (they did at the start of the season, so hopefully its a temporary change), though Yang as played upfront in a 2 and Miroma was played as a WB at Union SG which didn't do him any harm, so maybe that could be an option for Yang too.

Gangwon kept their title dream alive with a 1-0 win against Seoul in their first game of the championship play off. Gangwon played a 541 although first half it would swap into more of a 442 in possession with Yang drifting into the right half space almost like a SS at times.

On the whole tho Yang was rather quiet. He didn't really manage to influence the game much with the exception of a few moments here and there. In the second half Gangwon became more compact and defensive due to going 1-0 up at the end of the first half and Yang was moved over to the left wing. The second half in general was a far more disjointed affair with Gangwon mostly looking to hit Seoul on the counter. However there was one moment in the 62 min where Yang put the after burners on down the left side, burst past his marker, got to the byline before firing a low cross that Yu In-su couldn't quite get onto the end of. It was a textbook Ange move that if he was watching would no doubt have pleased him to see. He also later won a free kick just outside the box in an extremely dangerous area after cutting in off the left although Hwang Mun-ki couldn't quite convert. Another positive is that Yang had no issues with the defensive side of things. Whilst he rarely came up with the ball he was constantly putting pressure and tracking his opponent during the second half.

All in all good result for Gangwon but it wasn't his best game and not the most enjoyable match to watch ether.

Son will mentor him as well make moving easier

I wonder what the plan is for him when he joins, you want the players to be playing but I can’t see where he gets many first team minutes currently. A loan I think is out of the question.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he plays a few u21 games and asses at the end of the season.

There’s space for him as replaces Werner in the squad surely with some cup minutes

Cup minutes? He’s not going to get cheap minutes unless we get a kind fa cup draw or two. By the time he joins we will be at the business end of the league cup (if we’re still in it) and the Europa.

i find it hard to gauge just how highly rated this kid is. when the move first came about i saw it as just a bit of a punt that might pay dividends in the future but it seems a lot of our fans are expecting more than that and much sooner. not saying they are wrong, maybe i've just misread exactly what we're getting here. when brighton signed mitoma they immediately sent him to belgium for a year, he was a fair bit older than yang is now though so maybe a similar move is out of the question as you say, though we do seem to have a growing relationship with westerlo. i like the idea of these signings cooking in the background and then coming back to us when they're ready to contribute as you can only have so many of that type at the club concurrently imo.
