Not sure a frenzied London derby was the ideal full debut. I haven’t seen any of it so can’t comment on he he played.

Little more difficult against prem opposition eh, good learning experience.

didn’t make much of an impact as I’m sure he was hoping, but then no-one did really.

kicked a few times early on, but got straight up.

One of the challenges was absolute GBH as well. Chalobah I think it was who went straight through him, sadly the ref was a championship ref and didn’t even give a free kick.

Regardless, I didn’t think we got the ball to him quickly enough today as too many players took the extra touch and by the time he received the pass he was tightly marked. Matches like today will be a good part of his development and keep him grounded. Even the very best have quiet games.

Might have helped if we’d found him more often. Maddison, Udogie, Kulu, VDV all seemed more concerned with taking five touches before releasing it to no one.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but away at Selhurst Park was probably not the ideal location for your premier league debut.

Obviously he is fun to watch and chat about - but we, collectively, have a tendency to over-hype our players and what they are capable of delivering right now.

It's 4 years before he turns 21, at which point I think he can/will be an impact player in the league. For now, let's just enjoy the ride without piling too much pressure on how quickly he is developing or stagnating. Its a long road ahead.

Didn't get in to the game at all, thought Werner looked comfortably better when he came on.

I think people need to realise there is quite a difference between performing in the early stages of the Europa League and performing in the PL.

Tempering expectation. Let him have fun in the Europa league. And give him some minutes. Today showed he wasn’t quite ready. But it as him or Werner.

It's such a minor part of his development, it will hardly matter at all - good or bad.

He is still 4 years away from being the player that many assume he is right now...
And 12 years from being thrice the player he'll be in 4 years.

His potential because of how well rounded he is as an attacking player is huge but people have overhyped what he’s currently capable of. Not quite physically ready for the PL at our level but give it 2-3 years and he’ll be a star.

What are you basing that on?

He looks physically ready to me. There were times where he could’ve tracked back better and that one time he got outmuscled for the ball in the first half that led to a chance for them but other than that he did well, nothing to suggest he’s not cut out physically imo.

Worth bearing in mind he played the full game Thursday. It was a big ask for him to then play the early Sunday game too away from home. His body won’t be used to that kind of physical exertion.

That said, our entire team was dogshit which didn’t really help him as a 17 year on his PL debut away from home.

Still showed some moments of quality too.
