Has Moore and Lankshear playing at youth level together much?

Lankshear is a bit older so not sure if on group above otherwise?

If they have played a lot together would be great if they could come through together and already have an understanding.

Eriksen was never the quickest, and was clearly not a winger, but some of his best performances for us were coming in off the left.
Same with Modric back in the early days. I don’t believe for a second that ‘Arry planned it, but we had a very effective structure then. Modric wasn’t trusted in midfield (too lightweight) so was stuck at LM in a nominal 442. In practice he simply drifted inside, causing/allowing Bennie to push right up into the LW position, which could have been disastrous, but our RB at the time was Charlie, who simply stayed deep allowing our CBs to drift to the left and become a back 3. With Lennon on the right offering real width and serious defensive cover, it all worked swimmingly!

it’s rarely about an individual, almost always about combinations.

How worried should we be up until August 11? People in the know seem confident and relaxed, but he's the best player of his age group in the country. All of Europe's top clubs will be sniffing around him

Everyone in Europe has been after him since he was 15.

He could have left long ago if money was the focus.

Like Donley his family are Spurs fans.

I believe his scholarship contained an automatic professional contract starting on his 17th birthday.

Not unusual as we've given this to others we've brought in from outside.

Arganese-McDermott from Luton for example.

Briefly.

Moore has pretty much skipped the U21s going straight from U18 to training with the first team.

Season before last they briefly played together when Moore was still at school in the U18s.

Lankshear has a telepathic understanding with Donley though in terms of movement and understanding.

Mikey has already signed a pro contract with us until 30 June 2026. That will be officially announced when he turns 17 in early August. So Dortmund would have to agree a fee with Spurs rather than simply approaching the player.

Damn, missed my chance to be on the first page of this thread that will eclipse Kane’s 3000+ when it’s all said and done.

I am not worried. I think Ange is handling this the right way - get him involved in the 1st team training in pre-season. I think he will probably make the Asia trip - so a chance to travel with the 1st team, and all that entails.

I think once the season gets going he will be a player who spends part of the week training with the 1st team, and part of the time training with the U21s.

Not quite sure why so many seem to be so keen to hold him back and ‘protect’. The kids clearly got it so let him go, true talent usually rises, Owen, Rooney and latterly Yemal were all thrown in and the kid has as much potential as those did.

The kid is not done physically growing - a lot of the "holding back" is for his long-term benefit (and the club's).

Foden, at Moore's age, got 39 minutes that season across 5 appearances. Moore is on the right trajectory - and there is no benefit to over-using him now as he grows physically and mentally. Let him grow at a normal rate - instead of rushing him.

I’m pretty sure Michael Owen was built like a feather. I get what you’re saying but just feel he’s got ‘it’. Some of the best past and present players haven’t been physically strong but they are strong in speed of throught.

I don’t know whether it was instructions or personalities, but where Bergvall was drawn to the ball, sometimes chasing after possession, Moore was happy to hold his position and wait for the ball to come to him. I’m going to choose to believe that he was doing as he was told, and was confident enough not to try to force things to get noticed.
I would guess that’s instructional. I think Ange wants his wingers to stay wide and hold their position whereas the role that Bergvall played requires him to try and get on the ball and create that way. But I might be wrong. Just my opinion.

I agree that he has "it".

I just think his body is still physically developing - so putting too much stress on a growing body is a bigger long-term risk. He is also (soon-to-be) 17 - there is a maturing process that happens.

Again - you burn him out now, and he could be done very quickly. If you take a Foden approach - you could be looking at a player of the year in a few years time.

In theory Moore is likely to get more minutes that Foden - who was breaking into a Man City line up. But, there is value in breaking him in slowly, and not simply using him up early.

I think us being in the Europa league this season will mean more youngsters will get minutes and that is definitely a good thing
