What an absolute blunder it was to bring him back for Chelsea unfit
Yeah everyone was marveling at the great news of him and Romero back for that game...

For about ten minutes.

Didn't/don't even need hindsight to see that was a glorious fuck up.

Only benefit is Gray getting some minutes and adding to his skill set.

Why was he brought back before he was 100% fit? Did the medical people misjudge his condition? Or do Ange and his staff think the backups are either not ready or will never be good enough for the Prem? If it's the first possibility, the club needs better medical/physio people. If it's the second, Levy needs to buy more, and better, players, instead of leaving the team down to the bare bones.

Wonder who took the blame for that monumental error?
Guess the Romero one was relatively unrelated to the previous injury but VDV was the same hamstring, no?

So just need Davies to play the next couple of weeks maybe rotate a bit between him Gray and Dragusin for the next 3. Then ease back VdV this time.

100%, but I do get it; Ange was under serious pressure and made a judgement call, presumably in tandem with the medical team, and it backfired spectacularly.

I'd have probably done the same against Chelsea. Easy to judge in hindsight.

What I don’t get is he’s seemingly still got enough credit in the bank to survive potentially even this Sunday that he didn’t need Van de Ven back then. So he could have held him and Romero back for just another game or two that they’d not have put themselves out for another month and we’d not be in such a shit show as we are now. It’s just fucking mind boggling.

Agreed, but I do wonder if the fact that it was against Chelsea, and we'd only won 1 game in about 7 (the City thrashing). Made a rash call with the medical team.

This weekend is make or break, though.

He’s just not the manager we hoped he would be. Stats / results / decisions such as above / injuries can’t help but lead to that conclusion

The plan was for him to play 60 minutes. He was judged ready to play that by the medical team. When players are judged ready to start their comebacks, managers are going to play them. The problem was Cuti injured himself trying to be Maradona in his own box and so Mickey had to play on past his planned minutes, and the rest is history.
