He's instantly fearing the worst purely because of his history, so it might not be as bad as he thinks.
Yeah I think its this, he actually got up and ran after he did it. As someone who had 4 hamstring issues ranging from a grade 1 to a grade 3 playing rugby, you don't keep running if it's a grade 2 or 3. Hopefully its just 2-3 weeks out

Think he's more upset it keeps happening. Looked more like his 2nd hamstring injury last season where missed a couple of weeks. Villa will be a big loss but if we get him back for City away that would be good.

Yeah, its very worrying that it keeps happening.

Was surprised by some of the comments about it being caused by the demands of playing at left back. If regularly getting ahead of yourself and having to abruptly change direction was guaranteed to cause hamstring injuries, half the match-thread members would be in wheelchairs.

He was also walking around the pitch at the end. Unless our medical team are really shit at their jobs, you wouldn't let him do that if they thought it was as bad as we all initially thought.

It’s not much of a coincidence that it’s him and Udogie that are breaking down though when everyone knew that was the weakest area of the squad depth wise. We’re having to overload them a little too much. Both of them had serious injuries last season. It was naive at best to leave the area neglected.

Getting another capable LCB will be a really important addition for us imo. And then hopefully in January the emergence of Moore should mean that we can leave Werner out the Europa squad for the tougher matches and have Spence able to provide cover.

Still, I think Ange needs to have more faith in DJed, who’s done a decent job there out of position.

Still reckon Radu and Ben should be doing extra back CB work in training , it could be a least three games coming up without Micky and Cuti also a worry.

With mickeys hamstring, Romero strained and destiny in desperate need of a rest I wonder if Ange will give Reguillion a chance.

Even if it's only a few weeks, it's international break after Ipswich. So hopefully back for the next go round at least.

He’s a brilliant CB but I think a big cause of the hamstring issues is the strain he puts on them by constantly sprinting back and chasing every ball. I would hope that as he gets more experienced his positioning and reading of the game would improve to the extent he would need shorter, less sharp bursts to get to the ball.

Dias plays in a similarly high line and barely gets out of 3rd gear most of the game. He’s also helped by the collective press being better, but no doubt his maturity and positional intelligence also mitigates the need to go all out, all the time.

If VdV could get to even 80% of Toby or Jan’s ability to read the game in their peaks, I seriously believe he could be a top 3 CB in the world. He has everything else to be world class.

DJed is injured I think otherwise I think he'd have started.

He’s not in the squad is he?

Does seem odd alienating Reggy as we have as should have been kept as back up to Udogwie as we didn’t get anyone in.

I think even if we do, he will be wary of running at full speed.

Like you say, the organisation in front of Dias is better but also he sits in a line of three whereas Micky is in a pair and regularly out wide in a foot race with a winger.

I mean, he's worth a shot.

Probably be very rusty due to lack of playing but he's not a bad player. Would be wise with the amount of games we have coming up.

Flip side - we can’t afford for him to be injured going into January. I doubt he plays.
