A less thought of player would not get the leeway he gets.

Edwards has been given plenty of rope because of his natural ability. But as the saying goes hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.

I have little sympathy for young 'prodigies' who throw away their opportunities. In any walk of life.

But football fans have a habit of siding and at times purring over the lost wonderkids for what they could have been rather than admire the ones who maxed out every drop to be what they are.

Speaking as someone with dyspraxia, there is no way Edwards suffers from this if he’s as talented and skilful as they say. Amongst the most common and predominant symptoms of dyspraxia are a complete lack of coordination, balance and spatial awareness, which makes controlling a football at pace difficult at even a ‘kickabout with mates’ level, never mind at premier league academy level.

Edwards it seems is a spoilt brat who doesn’t appreciate the fortunate position he’s in. I hope he matures and turns it around but the signs aren’t good.

Sissoko?

If his family are in agreement with the club then there’s a chance things can be turned around. At 17-19 most kids do the self destruct rebellion stage and come out of it, his being a stroppy attitudey teenager, the problem is his in the lime light has a tonne of cash and insane ability. His been told his a world star since he was little, football comes very easily, so his never had to work as hard as others. suddenly his hit 18/19 and has to adapt, grow up, become a professional it must be a shock.

Let’s hope he gets though this to become a spurs legend.

Id suggest that if the 'lime light' of being considered an excellent under 19 footballer is enough to make you think youre above working then being a player in a mens team is too much for youre ego tbh

It's his life I guess but I've got no sympathy for him. What I'd give to be paid a fortune to not give a fuck all day.

The kid doesn't have a developmental condition or dyspraxia etc, and if he did, it would have been adjusted for. I can guarantee spurs would have put more time into his development than with any other youth player.

What he needs to remember is that in football, there is always someone else. That person will take your place if you don't deserve it, and if poch deems working hard as the criteria then you better run your bollocks off and at least respect your teammates enough to turn up on time.

That said, I've always gone on the motto that if you're on time, you're already late

f*** I will love it if he turns this round, any success he has from this point will be even sweeter as long as it’s in a spurs shirt.

Don’t forget as well can’t remember if it was U23 or the U19 UYl he was captain for a fair few games. You don’t make someone who’s a bad influence captain. They must have seen something GOOD in him to make him captain.

Sometimes you try a whole manner of different approaches when trying to get someone to apply themselves. A bit like when Warnock made Taraabt captain, that wasn’t because he was a good influence or set the tone for effort and application, but because he was running out of ideas and thought that, instiling a sense of responsibility towards others in him, might do the job.

That was a team with experienced pro’s like Clint Hill and Richard Dunne in it, who were genuine captains.

I remember in my school days, one particular teacher had a way of reforming naughty kids. Give them responsibilities by making them class monitors. Most of them never caused any troubles again.

If the bit in Matt Law's article about him not turning up on time for a single training session is true, then that's a fucking disgrace. No wonder they wanted rid. What the actual fuck

It's very weird. Maybe he was addicted to visiting Norwich's cracking owl sanctuary.

Yeah but he's not at university. I was working for min wage at 18 and would have got sacked for turning up late every day. And my job wasnt fun

This!

I was taught at a very young age to turn up on time and I didn't have problems with it when I was a teenager (or later). I'm not going to excuse or feel sorry for someone at Edwards age who probably makes as much in a week as I do per year when he can't even manage fundamental stuff such as being respectful to his club(s).

Not disputing that, but stranger things have happened. How do you get a kid to WANT to apply himself?

Normally offer them some werthers and a private viewing of some puppies. Apparently.

He's got skill, he's got time.

He either becomes a great player or he doesn't. I'm sure our staff want him to be but sometimes it doesn't work out.

We all want him to succede.

Just checking in so i want to make sure im up to date- A player we have barely seen play but all blew up into being the next coming of Gazza has gone somewhere and not played and everyone has read into being the next coming of Gazza, good stuff.

I'm very much looking forward to how we can all unnecessarily extrapolate the next sliver of information we get.
