I think one issue with Edwards is he has never had to put anything extra in at youth levels. Even with minimum effort he has still been stand out. He's now at an age though where he's competing with hardworking players of all ages, most of which have had to put the graft in and have masses of experience on top. Neither players or managers at senior level will put up a player not doing their share of hard work no matter how much ability they have.
He'll learn but it might take time.

If he wants to earn the big bucks he'll need to work hard and I think eventually he will realise that. Just got to hope that's when he's still with us.

If he doesn't he'll be a Championship player on 20k a week for the rest of his career.

Everyone is different mate.
Sure but generally in life you abide the rules of youre employer if you want to have a job unless youre self employed, even if youre shit in the mornings (which i was) you need to make the effort

Whilst we shouldn’t judge people we don’t know, Edwards is getting way too much sympathy in this thread.

All this talk of introversion and dyspraxia - this is football we’re talking about.

The kid wasn’t late to training once - he never turned up on time! To training!

Running about doing drills and playing football - can anyone else think of anything they’d rather do, getting coached by experienced professionals and spending your days playing with your mates and being in the presence of world class players who you could learn from?

Any young player who doesn’t grab the chance to thrive in that environment - and especially at Spurs - to work as hard as they possibly can, is wasting their and everyone else’s time.

This isn’t a kid who had a one off incident where you can give him a break based on age or a moment of stupidity - this is a kid who knows full well how talented he is, but who simply cannot be bothered to put in the minimum required effort, who consistently breaks rules and damages his own chances.

Stop giving so much sympathy to someone so self-destructive.

As the zookeeper said to Homer Simpson:

This is becoming almost Giovanni Dos Santos levels of apologies.

Edwards is clearly a fuckstick, but he’s a talented fuckstick, maybe he just needs a change of scenery. Would be absolutely shocked to my ballbags if we ever saw him anywhere near the squad after this last month.

If the bit in Matt Law's article about him not turning up on time for a single training session is true, then that's a fucking disgrace. No wonder they wanted rid. What the actual fuck

Don't see your point?. The rules are the same for everyone.
I mean, not necessarily. If you had some kind of condition that meant you were late for work on occasion - be that a physical disability that sometimes delayed you getting ready or using transport, a mental illness, or a development disorder impacting organisation like dyspraxia - the law literally says that the rules have to be adapted if reasonably possible to account for that. Now odds are we're just dealing with a dickhead here, but if there were to be something behind the scenes such as depression or aspergers that may be causing some of the issues we're not just well-advised but legally obliged to give him every chance to succeed despite that - and I think we have more incentive than most businesses to take that obligation seriously. If that were the case we obviously wouldn't be privy to it as fans.

If we were dealing here with Marcus turning up in nightclubs, beating people up or whatever, sure, I'd say enough's enough. But all we actually have is vague statements and internet rumours. I'm not going to quickly turn my back on any of our young players on that basis.

doesn't totally add up though as farke had been pretty positive about him recently saying how much he'd improved and how close he was to the first team, plus he was beginning to break into their match day squads and finally made his debut a few weeks back. if he really was late for every single training session/team meeting then surely farke wouldn't have given him the time of day, maybe it was true to begin with and he made a bad initial impression but i find it difficult to believe that it was the case for the entire time he was there.

Speaking as someone with dyspraxia, there is no way Edwards suffers from this if he’s as talented and skilful as they say. Amongst the most common and predominant symptoms of dyspraxia are a complete lack of coordination, balance and spatial awareness, which makes controlling a football at pace difficult at even a ‘kickabout with mates’ level, never mind at premier league academy level.

Edwards it seems is a spoilt brat who doesn’t appreciate the fortunate position he’s in. I hope he matures and turns it around but the signs aren’t good.

@Breezer who knows Edwards family has confirmed everything in Matt Law's article is true.

And more than TRUE!!!

Stop finding excuses peeps. Kid is an absolute prick to himself, and his family not happy with him. Enough said on that now.

If his family are in agreement with the club then there’s a chance things can be turned around. At 17-19 most kids do the self destruct rebellion stage and come out of it, his being a stroppy attitudey teenager, the problem is his in the lime light has a tonne of cash and insane ability. His been told his a world star since he was little, football comes very easily, so his never had to work as hard as others. suddenly his hit 18/19 and has to adapt, grow up, become a professional it must be a shock.

Let’s hope he gets though this to become a spurs legend.

A very long way for even that to happen. Trust me on that?

I’m also dyspraxic. I do some dumb shit. Nothing else to add.
