But, he may not be the kind of winger that Frank is looking for...

I think he will come in for pre-season, but ultimately we will sell - probably to Leeds.
That's true but my reply to @cozzo was more about his view that Solomon pretty much got banished to Leeds because that's his level.

I reckon that he's better than Championship level and has already proved that, whether he's what Frank wants or if the club wants to make a quick profit is a different thing.

I think the lad deserves a chance to try and impress the new gaffer at least.

I guess I am in the minority then. For me, I believe we can do better and should be.
I disagree, I believe he should be give a chance to prove himself here, you may end up being right in the end, who knows at this stage, he had very little time to prove himself before he was loaned out and there was the injury. I don’t think that we should write him off too early.

I personally think he's exactly what we could have done with last season... a proper left sided winger who can beat his man, create and score goals. I think it would be foolish to not at least give him a chance.

You can't compare the Championship to the Premier league. There is a reason he was sent to Leeds in the Championship. He is not the required level, especially now we are in the Champions League.
Yeah the reason was that he was recovering from a serious knee injury, as noted many times elsewhere on this thread Solomon had shown at Fulham he was PL standard.

The more I think about this, the less chance I think he has to stick. It’s a numbers game.

In a 25-man squad, we are likely to keep 7 attacking players.

Right now those players are: Tel, Odobert, Johnson, Solanke, Son, Richarlison and Moore.

Based on the players we are being linked with, I think we will bring in 2 attacking players - someone like a Kalimuendo who can back up Solanke and then a more traditional wider player who can play an inside forward role- ideally from the right. I think those 2 replace Son and Richarlison.

That leaves 1 spot for Solomon or Moore. And even if you think that Moore can head out on loan, it still does not open up a spot for Solomon - since Moore is HG. It’s more likely that Scarlett grabs that 7th spot if Moore goes on loan

So the only way Solomon finds a spot is if Son and Richarlison leave, and we buy only 1 replacement forward. And I suspect that would not make many people happy.

Given the financial incentive to sell, and the lack of a squad space - I think it means Solomon will be moving this summer.

Let's just say he could smoke a superking in the shower and it wouldn't get wet.

Gotcha!

Thought it was in reference to being a lucky man, just married or what.

What did he show at Fulham?
he was cheap ( even free ) punt that didn’t work out.

It would have made much more sense to go with him instead of Werner whilst Moore progressed.

I'm not sure if that was Ange's call but it did seem like a strange one at the time.

Also, I'd have asked Perisic to stay on one more year head of Werner.

Again, if that was the case, I do have to doubt Ange's player profiling.

Hindsight is 20-20 - but I think coming off of two knee injuries would have given the club pause to think they could rely on him for the full season.

So, from that perspective - going with Werner made more sense. Its not how it turned out - but I think the decision made sense last summer.

He found his feet in Premier League, then he took off and scored in 4 goals in a row and looked very special .. before injury took him

His goals against Wolves and Leeds in here:

Going with Werner made no sense at all. It was a ridiculous decision however you slice it.

Yeah, I don’t think he’s a bad player but I would much rather take the transfer fee and squad spot and put that towards a legit upgrade for the starting XI.

But surely Moore and Scarlett are both U21 so they're not relevant to squad spots?

I’ll bite, how about a cheap or even free punt that is now a 20m player with reportedly a number of clubs chasing him. As for his time at Fulham go check for yourself.
