We weren't getting the benefit of Son by the time he went off so why would you want to bring on a player just to basically do the same thing? Didn't the Dele swap change things and gave them a new problem to adjust to, I'm not convinced Moura was really what we wanted at that time.

Hindsight is a beautiful phenomenon, making us question the what if's. I think Poch made the right decision in bringing Dele on, he was a handful and forced Arsenal to adapt.

I'd be mortified if we had a £50m valuation of him.

I know he's a squad player, but he scores such important goals. We wouldn't be able to do better than him with £50m in the bank.
I’d imagine the whole story is a load of horseshit. Barca were probably panicking a bit after the Neymar thing collapsed and probably he every greasy agent and intermediary under the sun telling them they could get them most of the attacking players in Europe.

Even if it were true we weren't going to let him go out of the blue like that two weeks after we'd lost the chance to replace him. I guess we'll see if there's any truth in it if they come back in January but if you think about it would he really want to go there with the very strong likelihood Neymar will be arriving and Knock him out of the squad all over again? Been there done that lost a year of his career sitting at home watching his teammates on the tele.

Saying that I'm sure I read that Moura and neymar are like best friends. I'm sure also that when they were youngsters Moura was considered the bigger talent. Maybe they would live to play in the same team.

It's obvious there is something about Moura that Poch doesn't accept. It could be his ability to press.
But if Moura made a really good contribution to the attack, does he have to be the best presser.
Moura is a good player, not the greatest. But he isn't afraid of attacking the goal. He first touch is better than Son. His attacking prowlness better than Lamela. Still I think if he isn't a 50mil player he wouldn't be more than a 60 mil player.
Moura has game changed but he isn't a game changer by any means.
I also think that he should get more time playing but not sure why he doesnt

I suspect Moura falls into the not quite good enough category. He is capable of scoring wonderful goals but usually disappears for large parts of every game. He is a bench player for an elite team and not normally a starter.

They may well like to but it seems they never do even when they are at the same club.

We have some very good players like Son,Dele and Lamela who can win games but there is no guarantee with any of them. Sure from time to time they have their moments and some are better at some things (Son can be dynamic and is not afraid to attack the goal,Dele is as good defensively as attacking wise, has great talent when he shows it but underachieves and Lamela who is great pressing, has some great touches but that's about it) and Moura is no more or less than they are.

Moura is an individualist. He doesn't fit into team patterns, that's been his problem throughout his career. I presume that's why Poch has tried to convert him into a striker, as there's not much use having a wide man who doesn't provide assists. And Lucas doesn't really cross the ball, his passing isn't up too much. But he can pop up with a goal.

I don't see him any more of an individualist that Son is, even less

I'd be interested to see a video comparison in terms of pressing and defensive work between Son and Moura, I feel like attacking wise they offer quite a similar level.

The main differences I think Son is more direct, attacking the goal thinks more like Kane

Moura has better control of the ball

Both I think the same level quality

Maybe Son is a better presser

They both can score but there is no guarantee

I love Lucas but I do think hes struggling to find a role.
He's a great little footballer but doesn't quite seem to have a position, imo.
He's not really a winger, or a striker, or a 10, etc.
I think that's going to be the biggest hurdle in his career, and why he's not quite made it at the highest level or managed to nail down a place with us.
His lack of defined role was why he was replaced by Kane for the final.

I quite like the description Jack Pitt-Brooke used on the Tifo football Spurs podcast this week. He said that he’d heard the feeling in the club was that Lucas was a really talented player, but he’s a bit of a slow learner, and doesn’t take or follow instructions well. A bit of an off the cuff player, really.

Yeah that's an interesting idea.
He's clearly a talented lad but that may explain why he doesn't seem to fit a defined role, and therefore struggles to find a clear role in the team.
