How about his defence splitting through ball to Son in the first half which Son hit wide?

I don't think he is good enough to be a top 4 starter and I think it was the right decision to drop him for the final to accommodate Kane, Dele, Eriksen, Son but the levels of hate he is getting recently are harsh.

Dele or Kane should have been dropped for that.

No hate, but my post still holds true. The pass was on, but the execution was poor.

His closing down is unlike anything I've seen. Certainly in a spurs shit. Speed plus a dogged determination to simply get that ball back.

Nice assist as well. Now he needs to add some goals.

Most unsung spurs player I have ever seen supporting spurs - by fans, media and our previous manager. I'd go as far as saying he is our most important player right now.
An absolutely incredibly hard worker every minute he is on the pitch with the rare combination of excellent ability on the ball.
And he attracts Messi levels of deliberate fouls against him. He's just completely fouled out the game at times - it's every oppo's tactic pre-game. That could be a contributing factor to him going unnoticed.

I found this thread on page 3 after yet another very good performance from him tonight!!!

Just watched a replay of his goal for the first time. It was exquisite.

There is little doubt that Lucas makes as many mistakes as anyone on the team. Yet, he somehow comes up with these sublime moments that really show world class ability. And inconsistency. Not sure Jose can coach out the inconsistency but he really is one of these players that if deployed properly, does have the ability to change the game.

Spurs would have had far less success without him. If you think about how vital some of his goals have been beyond the Champions league semi, it is impressive. I guarantee you that every team, save Liverpool or Many City would give their eye teeth to have him despite his errors.

He is clearly not an out and out CF, and is better suited to an inside forward type role where he can find space and run at their back 4.

Actually thought he was our best player over the game. And every goal he scores seems to be crucial.

He was our best player last night - he is a really busy player who likes to get involved and is always available for the ball. He is frustrating but he is capable of utter brilliance and we need more of that.

So frustrating at times but he was trying to make things happen non stop.

He's really not suited to the role he's forced to play in Kane's absence, and that's tarnishing his reputation somewhat. He was pretty poor for large parts of the game yesterday imo, but he shone when Dele came in and created space for him.

Although he was a bit better in the second half last night Son was gash for most of the game, he had at least two break away chances to put in a team mate, but always refuses to get his head up. I don't get fans having a go at Lucas every game rather looking at Son a bit more closely. As already mentioned, he has scored so many important goals for us and runs his nuts off, yeah like Son he can run into cul de sacs on occasions, but since Son's suspension he has been the better player.

Sorry to be that guy but I need to vent.

Lucas was by no means our worst player today, and he tries extremely hard. However...

His touch, coupled with his absolutely diabolical passing, might just send me to an early grave. :D

Agree. You can't often fault his effort but he is severely lacking in the brain department and the odd wonder performance where everything clicks can't mask the fact that he should never be a starter for us.

If he wasn't lacking in the brain department he'd still be at PSG.

People say don't sell him ... I'd snap your hand off if we can find a buyer. Yet another performance with nothing useful to come from it.
