By the way, we’ve all being saying his name incorrectly.

You do not pronounce the G in Bergvall.

It’s pronounced more like “Beruvall”

The G is silent.

I know this because I heard Lucas Bergvall say his own name on the VFTL podcast.

Don’t be a lumpish, hasty-witted clotpole. Say it properly.

Not like how you order your San Migwel at the bar. Or your EstrELLA. It’s “Estrayya” thank you very much to the man queuing behind me at the bar at the MotoGP at Silverstone a few weekends back. By the way, Estrella Galicia is fucking delicious. I buy it whenever I see it. The fact it was on tap at the MotoGP was incredible.

Anyway. I digress.
This is me I'm afraid.

Awful when it comes to language...

No one asked for this but here we go:

“Berg” means mountain. You have it in “iceberg”. “Vall” is “wall” (more or less - it’s a less common word in Swedish).

Most English speakers can’t pronounce it (same goes for Haaland, Højbjerg and others). But it’s a very easy name to spell. You have both its components in your own language.

So you’re saying his real name is Lucas Mountainwall?

So what you're saying is he was what kept the White Walkers away. The Prince That Was Promised.

I don't remember ever being so optimistic about the future of young players at the club that I am about Bergvall and Gray. I always had major doubts about Taarabt and Edwards, who are two of the most talented young players I've seen, but for mental and physical reasons, there were always huge question marks. But Bergvall and Gray seem to have the complete package for players in their positions.

Completely agree. No one could make an argument that they don’t both have all the materials to become world class if everything goes well in their development and they stay injury free.

Weren't you excited when we signed the 17 year old Gareth Bale?

Yes, but at the time, Bale was a LB for Southampton and we didn't get to see the pre season games we do now and there was far less on YT etc. It's hard to get overly excited about a LB that, though highly rated, I'd hardly seen anything of prior to his debut against Utd (ironically as a LW.) At the time, I think most people were more enthusiastic about Giles Barnes, who we were equally linked with.

Totally agree. There is a lot of bad things about everything being filmed these days, but the real plus is that we get to see a lot more behind the scenes stuff.

Listening to the way that Gray, Bergvall, Odobert and Moore speak and seeing the way they play you can just tell that they are all mentally impressive. Add that to their ridiculously high potential then it bodes very very well.

Praying this guy is gonna make a big difference.

Understand Vicario rant but his first game and I think we need to be careful not to contrain him.
