Sounds very promising and I haven’t seen any pre season (fitness training/sessions!!) but they are just that and have very little relevance to when the proper stuff kicks off
Agreed but one has to acknowledge that he is passing every examine he has been given and that most young players eventually struggle as the levels increase. As you know doubt know, it's part of the growth process.

He will struggle at some point in the future as the competition increases and it will probably be well before we play Real Madrid so we shouldn't be disappointed when the inevitable happens. He is anticipating what defenders are about to do and reacts to that with little to no hesitation and often is making one of the best possible decisions he could in the moment. Given our lack of presence in the midfield since Dembele left, it is heartening to see someone come in that might be able to do just that.

For me - biggest things he needs to work on - his work around the box. Needs to be more of a goal threat. Right now - he is PL-ready for a box-to-box role. He will be world class when he adds that goal threat.

Good news is - he is 18, and is likely going to get a lot better - but he'll have to work on it.
He is a box to box midfielder. He can transport the ball forward with speed, covering a lot of ground and is not afraid to play the ball forward. We need that in our central midfield.

He's not a number 10 (things can change). But I agree with you, he can improve around the box.

Night and day difference in our ability to keep and progress the ball when he came on. Wasn’t the slightest bit intimidated.

Clearly hugely talented and seems already ready to play in the PL. First time I have really seen him play and what struck me most is his reading of the play. Outstanding.

Such an intelligent player. Can certainly go all the way to the top if he keeps on growing like this. An absolute steal.

Can’t see what Barcelona saw in him 🤷🏼‍♂️😂.

fair play to our scouting team for finding this gem . Definitely looks like he will be a 1st team regular already. Early days but this kid can go right to the top

Usually when a midfielder is described as busy it is a bit of a backhanded compliment as it is associated with someone whose touch is unreliable and not technically gifted. This kid looks busy covering lots of grass but you can see his touch is very assured for his age with balls fizzed into his path and with opponents pressing him.

If he really tears it up I hope there's a proper medical plan in place to manage his appearances. At 18 there's a good chance he's still growing and he won't be quite as physically resilient as 20-somethings. Steven Gerrard had a lot of niggling injuries early in his career because of being overplayed as a teenager.

Obviously hard to tell from Pre-Season but he already looks like he possesses the talents that none of our midfielders did last season.

Bissouma should be worried in particular.

Unless we sign someone I doubt Bissouma has any reason to fear for his place.
Hopefully Ange find Bergvall a spot with him though.

He has all talent that posters have mentioned but there was a point when he went shoulder to shoulder with a Bayern player and easily shoved him off the ball - that made me smile as I had wondered if he was up to the physical challenge. Not just a pretty boy.

Maybe I judged him too early based mainly on his floppy hair but I didn't realise how much this boy loves a challenge. He'll pick up a fair few yellows for us, but I'm here for it.

He's class. Still a bit raw, but there's bags and bags of potential there.
