I didn't need convincing, his development last season was beyond anything I've seen before and you can't help but be impressed overall, but watching that some of the passes he sprayed around were better than I remembered.
He's going to be in his element this season.

Remember going to the AZ Alkmaar home game with a couple of neutrals and they were absolutely stunned how good he is.

He just glides round the pitch, reads the game incredibly well and has the tools on the ball to really dominate as he develops.

It's cliché, but we really should build the team around him, this lad is going right to the very top Arry.

His talent and game IQ are levels beyond anyone else in the squad.

6'2, already physically that strong (with those skills) at 19 is especially unique.

An incredible signing.

As he matures he will I am sure totally dominate games even against the best teams. To some limited extent he has already dominated half of a couple of games. He just needs to build on that.

Sadly we all know how it's going to go.

Romero sold this season or next. Then Kulusevski or Porro. Then Bergvall most likely when we continue to tread water rather than improve.

This is a completely manufactured narrative that you've made up to be miserable. Which first team players have we sold in the last decade that you were especially bothered about? Besides Kane I can only really think of Kyle Walker. It's not something we do these days.

It isn't a narrative more a prediction based on how we operate in the transfer market.

Romero is going this summer or next unless something radical changes. I'm sure you can agree with that. If/when Romero goes how confident are you that we replace him properly and as a whole improve the squad's ability to win next season? Now let's say we sign more youngsters and finish 8th being a work in progress. Kulusevski and Porro will have 2 years left and want to be competitive now. Do you think they're going to sign massive new contracts? It becomes a cycle of treading water i'm afraid until we have a window or two where we prioritise the now rather than the next 5 years. I don't think Bergvall will want to stay here if we are a 6th-8th place side for the next 3 years because we keep having to sell our first team players against our will.

The only way to break the cycle is to sign the odd top experienced player to show the players you want to win now, and to increase the chances of instant success. Then you are in much more control of who is sold and when.

You can't compare to the Kyle Walker days btw. The Premier League is much more competitive now, and the side we had under Pochettino was much better. No wonder more players were prepared to sign new contracts at the time, including Kane.

Absolutely sensational footballer. He is destined for the very very top.

The player we should be looking for is his partner in midfield. Bring in a top quality more defensive minded player next to him and we would have an incredibly strong midfield.

This is bleak projection of events based on one player wanting to leave. Guys having 2 years left on their contracts is nothing new. There's every chance we improve considerably in the league next season (with or without Romero), players feel good to be there and we get a few contract extensions. And IF we continue to be shit I think the board will be forced to dig deep and deliver some big names to get us back on track. I have the same reservations about Levy and co that you no doubt do but if we dwindle for too long so will their bottom line.
