We always did better in the NLD when we Modric in midfield. I sense we would do well with Bergvall in midfield Wednesday as well. Obviously not that level yet but we just seem to do better against them with that type of midfielder.

I'm giving my age away again, but that element of steel in his play reminds me of prime Johan Neeskens, at only 18!

I don't see too many similarities myself

Looks like he’s massively stepped up his fitness in the last two months, looking much sharper and stronger. Been really impress ed with his energy and pressing but he’s still a bit raw in his positioning and often gets caught in no man’s land off the ball which is why comparing him to Sarr isn’t helpful, Sarr is much better out of possession and seems to be in the right place the majority of the time. I think both of them could grow together and end up working well as a pair or part of a 3 in the future

actually recently I think Lucas has given us more control I think sarr runs to much

ofc it could be the games but I think sarr runs around headless recently

I don’t think we ever won that many with Modric in midfield. Can only remember a few under Redknapp.

I do hope Ange fights the urge to ‘protect’ him. I get the feeling he likes a stage and has that bit of shithousery. Il feel more confident if he’s in the the starting 11

He reminds me a lot of Frenkie De Jong.
The way he moves around the pitch, recives the ball, pops it off and moves in to space demanding it again. Gets it, pops it off and again finds space.
He is always on the go and has an uncanny knack of finding space almost effortlessly.
Despite significant improvements recently, once everyone trusts him enough to give it and then move to have it back from him we will see even more improvements.

This kid is going to be a star, I just hope its with us, instead of us fattening the goose

I think he pushes Maddison into a straight battle for Kulu as that most attacking central midfielder.

The thought of Gray, Bergvall and either of Kulu or Madders is very exciting. So much more progressive than two of Biss/Sarr/Bentancur plus one other.

I think he’s first name in that midfield

Funny enough, I think Archie is similar. I can see him being very comfortable as a sitting midfielder, a box to box style one too. Where they potentially differ is Bergvall may have a few more creative tools in his locker. But even that is hard to say, as Gray has barely played in his preferred position.

So great to see this young lad starting to grow into games at this stage of the season. Almost like he and Gray are in a silent competition, that is pushing them both to be better.

Weirdly, our injury issues may very well be the making of both such talented young players. I doubt they would have gotten this much time otherwise. A door has been opened and both have marched through.

Necessity is the mother of invention, right? Or in their case… development.

Showing my age too… but he reminds me a little of Bryan Robson. He was ostensibly a box-to-box midfielder. But in truth, excelled in all areas of the field. I guess the Dutch version would be sorta, kinda Frank Rijkaard (Minus the spitting).
