Strangely, despite only playing for a short time, last night was the first time I felt like Bergvall was ready for this level, even for sub minutes

I’m more than happy for him to take plenty of time to get up to speed because his potential is enormous. He’s huge for 18, a good athlete already and technically excellent, he also see’s passes others don’t and has the balls to play them. I always find it very easy to be patient with a player like him because his potential is obvious, it’s just a matter of time.

We have a bit of a conundrum in midfield though. Gray is going to be best in the position where both Bissouma and Bentancur occupy. Bergvall could be either and 8 or a 10. He has great tenacity and if he can develop the engine of Sarr which I think he is capable then that would be the ideal position for him. Then we need another 10 but we do have Donley potentially if he makes it. We also still don't really have a true specialist defensive midfielder either. So the balance is off despite each midfielder being very good individually.

I just don't see us signing a DM. We have Biss and Bentancur, with Gray that will develop to play that position, buying another DM will just block Gray's development path.

Agree. Don't think it's even on the radar. To upgrade on Bissouma and Bentancur, who are both good players, would require to sign a really established top player of significant profile in that position and would take the kind of outlay on fee and wages that we will just not entertain. Look at what the Scum paid for Declan Rice and he's not even much cop at passing the ball.

Getting minutes in the europa league will do him the world of good. He’s doing fine right now.

I think that really depends what is defined as a DM. There's a number of teams where the defensive midfielder plays the Sarr position. The best example was Kante, he covered so much ground so he didnt just sit in front of defence. I think Sarr can develop into that type of player and if he can get even close to that level would be great. It's actually also the role Hojbjerg would play under Conte. So that for me is maybe where we ideally should be looking for another Sarr type but someone who is a bit more experienced to identify danger and for Sarr to learn from. That probably suits us better since the 6 would be the focal point when playing out from the back and the 8 would be the one who puts out fires and gets us back in possession. That could then maybe allow Bergvall to play in the attacking midfield role competing with Maddison and Kulusevski.

I would not be surprised at all if Moore becomes our 10. Although he currently plays best off the left, I think in time his best assets will be seen when he roams.
I would say Son is similar though in that he is best when he can roam infield. I don't think we're going to be playing inverted fullbacks for ever either. I think Moore is going to feel most comfortable coming in off the left with a left back overlapping.

Reports that we are looking at David Frattesi in Italy. No doubt The boy Paratici involved in that. In view of the signings from Italy that Fabio has completed for us , I trust him implicitly.

Just bumped this as I thought he did pretty well when he got on tonight, had some energy and was finding his passes. Would probably start him on Sunday to freshen things up...

I have real doubts about the lad, but the only way we will find out is to play him. However I don't see that he's a better option than our other midfielders (which is perfectly fine as he's just a kid) and so think it'll probably be mostly the Europa and final 10 mins of games.

There were several times last night where he was slowly jogging back and making no real effort to get a tackle in. Now, this could be instructions from Ange so he's ready to receive the ball and get us back up the pitch, but as we were losing the game and running out of time, it was not a great look.

Looks good in possession, looks like an inexperienced kid out of possession. He will learn, but should not be playing vs Chelsea - their midfield would eat him alive.
