This thread is an example of a bi-polar group of supporters.

Angry Crowd: "We must play the youth, they need experience!!! Why won't the manager play young players?!?!?!"

Angrier Crowd: "The young players are not ready! We can't have a manger picking them. They must be loaned out!!!!"

Bergvall is 18. He is playing at a higher level than almost all 18-yos in football. We don't need to change anything with his approach - other than our collective expectations of what 18-yo footballers can do....

See your broader point and generally agree but I think this one is a bit more nuanced.

The big distinction here is that unlike Moore, Bergval actually has to occupy a non HG roster spot right now. There is zero opportunity cost for keeping Moore on the roster. Carrying Bergval is directly at the expense of one of our all too precious non HG spots. With a team this thin / perma crocked, we simply can’t afford that if we really want to try to win the EL.

And HG rule is one of the reasons why we should not loan Bergvall - if he is here for 3 years, he will be considered a club-trained HG player in European competitions...

I fully expect him to be starting the remaining European fixtures. Thursday isn’t indicative of anything really, it was a poor performance all round and even the senior players looked unprepared for such a hostile environment.

He’s doing just fine in his development at the moment.

I cam see the pros and cons of loaning him after Christmas though.

So true

A little bit of patience is needed, but I do think in long run this experience will help develop our promising youngsters. It will just take time to adapt to the rigours of competitive games.

Bergvall showed in pre season his quality, just will take him some time to adapt to pressure, physicality and speed of some of these games. He probably is trying a little too hard on the ball, but I think he will develop into a quality player.

So much shit has been posted in here.

rarely will any player start in an Atmosphere like we did. He didn’t have the best game but he was still showing for the ball. He will learn.

really important squad player. The loan stuff is absolute bollocks and says more about our patience.

I mean most of us are still struggling to say his name right after four months but at the same time expecting him to play out of his skin away to Galatasary within the same timeframe.

Won’t really get noted or praised but it was good man management from Ange to get him on the pitch from both an energy and also making him feel part of it point of view

Wasn’t on for long tonight but won a few important headers in the box on set pieces.
Im staring to think hes more likely to get the nod than Archie as the replacement #6 assuming Bissouma and Bentancur are both suspended at the same time before the end of the year (Bissouma has 3 yellows in the Prem season to date). Seems a bit more comfortable on the ball at the moment to me.

I'm sure he would look uncomfortable at left back too to be fair. Happy with both Bargvall and Gray but they both need time. Gray needs to move into midfield at some point.

Onions and all that, but I'd say the opposite. Archi has very good control in tight spaces but seems less likely to make the killer pass and I think Ange will prfer security there.

We have a bit of a conundrum in midfield though. Gray is going to be best in the position where both Bissouma and Bentancur occupy. Bergvall could be either and 8 or a 10. He has great tenacity and if he can develop the engine of Sarr which I think he is capable then that would be the ideal position for him. Then we need another 10 but we do have Donley potentially if he makes it. We also still don't really have a true specialist defensive midfielder either. So the balance is off despite each midfielder being very good individually.

I would not be surprised at all if Moore becomes our 10. Although he currently plays best off the left, I think in time his best assets will be seen when he roams.
