I think people are getting a little bit carried away with the fact we haven't had injuries and suspensions in midfield. We need these youngsters at the ready to step in. For now they're getting enough minutes to be ready when the time comes.

Tough going for him at the moment. He's looked nowhere near the player we thought he was coming in. But obviously still really young and though confidence must be pretty low at the moment, hope he keeps getting minutes to improve.

Could see a 6 month loan happening in January.

Looks well short atm which is no surprise given his lack of any top quality football

He’s only 18. Last night was tough for him, but a great learning experience. I’d rather he’s gets game time in Europa rather than a loan elsewhere.

He won’t have a tougher game like last night again this season.

Problem is the more we get through it the more experienced players will start playing more.

Could see him barely getting any minutes from feb.

I think he’s looked very promising so far but yesterday was not a good game from him, and you could tell teammates were avoiding passing to him. He does look way off the pace sometimes but thankfully he’s phenomenally talented technically, the things he is missing can be coached.

Bit of a dear in the headlights moment for a young player. He's obviously not adapting as quickly as Gray but to be expected somewhat moving not just team but country etc.

All these players will go through ups and downs and need patience. Nature of youth innit.

Was the wrong game for him last night. He was really poor, but I think in the context of the atmosphere and quality of opposition, you can understand why.

I could understand a loan after Christmas too, because his minutes will be limited in the latter stages of competitions.

I think people need to take responsibility for their own expectations. If people thought we had just signed Messi then that is their problem. He is a very talented young player and as you say, we have to let him develop.

Agree, but also Lange hasn't helped by saying he is first team ready - as it is quite clear he is nowhere near first team ready.

Totally agree. This is why I like Ange as our manager, he has a clear plan about he wants to develop these players and that can only be good for us as a club in the long run. A good young players improvement can be exponential if handled correctly.

Couldn't agree more, kids 18 years old!

I feel sorry for him. When he comes in it’s clear he’s overplaying a bit trying to impress, which is only natural. The fact he gets so little game time means, in his head, he feels he needs to be perfect every chance he gets. Leads him to hold onto the ball a bit too long at times and force a few passes.

Unfortunately expectations are raised when instead of purchasing a ready made/experienced player, we are old that our youth prospects have been evaluated as ready for the first team.

He will be great in the future - he has, in moments, shown wonderful talent.

Not sure the best thing for his development in the immediate though.

Very steep learning curve playing Galatasaray away. The place is a cauldron and they were really pumped up for it. Chuck in an absolutely freak goal after a few minutes and it's a lot of pressure on an 18 year old. He was a yard off the pace which then looks like a mile. He was getting tackled when he tried to dribble out of trouble and their press had all of our passing under pressure. He'll have learned a lot though. Maybe if he'd come on later when Gala were tiring badly he'd have looked like a World beater but that's just how it goes.

Nah... he's come from a league where he had all the time in the world to do what he wishes. His brains not working fast enough yet for Prem level which is why he's always getting closed down and giving the ball away

A loan from the new year wouldnt hurt his game, if he an handle it mentally/confidence wise. A level somewhere in between where he's come from and where we are.

Of the youngsters he looks a bit lost compared to the others in the small number of minutes he's had. The academy guys whilst its still a step up to the mens game they are at least more acclimatized to English football and it shows. For me Gray looks like the most comfortable and he's being used as a utility player having to adapt game by game and is handling it well, no coincidence he's had the most experience of the group having played so many games in the Championship.

In ‘normal’ circumstances I’m sure Ange wouldn’t have played so many youngsters and such a disjointed team. Bergval with seniors around him to help would I’m sure have a better performance.
Injuries are killing us again!

He's not playing much in the Prem though. I think most would expect him to be ready for Europa opposition. Last night was a bad day out for him but it was for most of them as well. Maddison is much more experienced and didn't look much better. I think Galatasaray were excellent at the high press though and one of the toughest away days we'll face in Europe. I think I'd still start him against Roma though being at home.
