I’d like to see him get a loan to a top championship club in January, think it would do wonders for him playing week in week out in a tough league

No way. Keep him here, he’s only going to get more and more minutes next season and as he’s already showing, he’s good enough and really adding value to the squad.

That ball he put through to Werner (that ended in the tame shot) was sublime, outside of his foot, right where it needed to be. *Chef’s Kiss*

Agree. There is no way he goes out on loan unless we see his development stalling. He's clearly being trusted in the cups and he's already contributing both as a starter and a sub at 18, with the possibility of becoming club-trained in a few years time.

Same with Archie.

I can see the benefit of both really.
I wonder if were out of the league cup and FA cup by the end of January whether we would view it differently with league games and europa knockouts left

He is such a talent and is going to be a superstar but I agree with the shouts of a good loan. Playing week in and week out in a physically tough league would do him the world of good.

But if it were to be done then a starting position would have to be guaranteed.

He didn’t agree to come to us to go out on loan to the championship or lower. Its madness, the kid is class already.

He’s got a bit of everything about him. Tackles a bit, passes a bit, dribbles a bit.

Gets forward, gets back. Not much he can’t do.

Very exciting.

Shoot me down for comparing, but reminds me a bit of Stevie Gerrard.

He is too good for a loan - he would benefit most from training with the first team and getting matches in Europe and increasing his minutes from the bench in the league.

There were a couple of passes he played where you could just see he has the vision and the ability to pull off the pass.

Don't think he needs 'toughening up'. He's putting in the challenges and taking enough hits where he is. The penalty came from one of them.

Ange said when he arrived that the ultimate objective cannot be achieved without intuitive understandings between pairs of players. The Harry and Sonny relationship springs to mind. There were some misplaced passes yesterday where Lucas and Mikey were not on the same wavelength. A loan will not fix that, quite the opposite. The club is investing for the future in these elite youngsters. It's hard to see them scattering them out to the lower leagues.

I'm not in favour of a loan. He's new to the country, just making friends with his new team mates. Him being settled and happy off the pitch will make a difference on the pitch.

If we loan him out, then what? Loan in someone else for the squad place, or spend budget that could be spent elsewhere to replace him and either block his pathway on his return or give ourselves another player to get rid of?

No chance imo. I think that his development is best served within the unit and learning the system and his teammates until it's all automatic to him rather than undo good work in that respect and set him back a further 6 months. He's already being trusted to and is starting matches and he's only been here 20mins!

I have no idea what people think a player like Bergvall would develop by having to dodge the 'cloggers'. and rugby playing journeymen in the Championship.

I would be shocked if anyone at the club wanted to send him out on loan.

He is learning Ange's tactics. No need to send him out to play under a different remit.

He is playing regularly.

He is adapting to his teammates. He trains and bonds with the team every day.

He is physically and technically ready for this level of football. (He lacks a bit of fitness that Ange noted in pre-season, but I did not see until you watch him start at this level, and he tires)

He has the confidence to brush off bad passes/plays and get on to the next pass/tackle.

If we sent him out - we would have to buy a replacement who is good enough, but not so good as to block his path. Good luck finding that player.

I can't actually think of any good reason to send him on loan - simply playing is not enough - if he would be playing a different position/tactics than what we are training him to do.

Thought he was great last night.
I thought last night was the first time he looked like he knew he should be there, no deferring to senior players or reticence to do his own thing.
We think young players integrate and learn the style and how the team plays but it's far more than that, they become part of the group which is great for their confidence and frees them up to make their own decisions and play their own game.
I think we saw that big time with Bergval and Mikey Moore last night.
Archie Grey to be fair slotted straight in from day one.

If he was clearly struggling in games anyone suggesting he gets loaned out for minutes might have a case, but he's been good every time he's played. He doesn't look out of place at all.

In fact I think yesterday showed an improvement on his recent games, he didn't dither on the ball as much as he has done in recent games, causing him to give up possession. Like Moore I'd have him starting all of the European games and getting minutes off the bench in the League.

I just think hes going to get less minutes in when it comes to the crunch stages of the Europa and FA Cups potentially as we are pretty stacked in our central areas so if he could be playing every week it we should take the opportunity. Quite a lot of disrespect being thrown at the championship, alot of the top teams there are playing decent football and its not plain sailing in them final 3rd roles so he would still learn alot there.
