He has gone from playing week in week out and getting the confidence, form and fitness that brings to a much more demanding (physically and mentally) league where he is coming in sporadically. Where he is obviously trying to stand out and it's not coming off.
Probably due to a combination of lack of sharpness, form and maybe a slight loss of confidence...
I feel he just has to go back to basics for a while.
I'm sure it's he could get a decent run of minutes we would see a massive improvement in every regard.

I just think it's a bit of over-eagerness with him, and I find that the things he's doing wrong are pretty much all down to decision-making. I see this as a good thing if I'm honest as they're things that will naturally improve over time. I think I saw a quote from Ange regarding Moore's performance in him making clean decisions or something like that, and Bergvall's performances will improve dramatically once he also incorporates that element into his game more.
All the ability is there with him and the last few games most certainly don't change a thing.

Being a football player is a short career. The best we can hope for now is that he looks after himself and makes the most of his remaining years at the top level.
This is the beauty of having a season of europa league football for these guys, it will bring them on no end. Yes he was poor last night but thats what young players at this stage are. I remember watching Harry Kane having plenty of awful Europa league nights.

He's certainly got a lot of talent, and will be a key player for us in the next year or two. I see him as a midfielder mid-term but I do wonder if the skills he can bring to the pitch are best suited to right wing right now, rotating with Johnson. Maybe, like Kulu, he needs some time up front while he adapts to the Premier League. He'll create chances there for sure.

He also had the issue that his fellow 18 year old who was also signed in the summer played like prime Beckanbauer.
With him and Lankshear (who played well) they were a bit over shadowed by the other two youngsters.
No doubt he'll come good. Just more minutes for the lad.

Not trying to spam the forum, but this from Ange today does reveal how forthcoming he is with players in the recruitment, but then how he keeps his word to play the young players and really believes in the lads such as Lucas

Ange: I think most managers would like, if they have talented youngsters, to use them. For us where we are in terms of a club, I think it is really important for what we are trying to build. I have always thought that clubs that have sustained success always have a strong underpinning of young players who grow with the team so that invariably over a period of times players move on and you are looking for replacements that they are already here. Whether that is guys who are club trained like Mikey, Will has had a couple of years with us, or we are bringing them in. Like I said last night, with the ones we are bringing in, we worked really hard to get Archie and Lucas to our club. Part of that was me saying ‘you come to our club, we will develop you, you will play and get an opportunity.’ It is easy for me to say that, get them to sign a contract and three months later they haven’t played at all and then come next window I go again and speak to the next 18-year-old and he turns around and says ‘actually, the evidence doesn’t back up what you are saying.’
I have that responsibility but at the same time they have earned it and it is an easier decision for me to make when I see them every day and I have no fear about throwing them out there. They are ready for it and want to contribute. It is always a balancing act and for a club like ours I understand how important it is, particularly for club-trained players like Mikey to make sure we keep that pathway open for them.

He may turn out to be the best number 10 or creative outlet at the club, it's not unfeasible for that to manifest at some point, but it's just not what I see in him from what I've seen so far. That's being said with full acknowledgement that I could easily be wrong given that he is quite young and obviously has bags of ability with the ball at his feet.
I don't even think the decision-making is outright a case of adapting to the way we play. Of course partly because he simply needs to play more and gain that familiarity, but in terms of the cameos and such, I do really just think it's a case of him trying to do as much as he can in the limited time he has and as a result ends up trying to do too much at times. Only natural for someone of his age and who is eager to impress.

Yeah agree and some have referred to Mikey but he’ll get his demons at some point too. Think he IS too determined and confident but that’s managing for you isn’t it?
