ITK has been in complete lockdown since last week it seems. Most of the big hitters haven't even touched on Saliba. My guess is there are a load of spinning plates going right now.

Yep. Last few weeks of the window. How’s the time the deal have to happen. Do or die time.

With Rose seemingly out the door too I wouldn’t be surprised for the sessegnons to be the next in.

The real reason we’re selling Trippier is because someone is willing to offer 25m for a replaceable 29 year old. It’s good value for the club.

I’m sure they were disappointed with his performances last year, but in a vacuum I doubt they would be that desperate to be rid of him.

Well, yeah, but it makes you wonder what he makes of Aurier and KWP considering Trippier has been his first choice RB for the past 2 years.

I agree with the premise, but KWP maybe has the excuse of youth and inexperience to mitigate his low involvement, while Aurier has unfortunately been injured a lot.

Not saying that they’re up to scratch or that Pochettino thinks they are, but Sissoko’s resurgence has taught me to never write anyone off.

Does this finally mean kwp will get some game time?

I am not a fan of foyth at rb but I am happy to give any of the three (Aurier included) some chances. All though last chance saloon for Serge.

I really wouldn’t be surprised if serge goes too and we bring one in.

RB is a tricky one as it is for me both the position we're weakest on first XI and the position on the park where theres the least drop in quality between first and second rotation (eg Trippier-->Aurier; 'rotation' as in Kane-->Son up front even though Son is a starter). Given we also find ourselves with 3 right backs, AND another player who can rotate in (Foyth) even if KWPs not good enough to be 2nd rotation at present, it makes sense to allow one to be sold even if we dont replace. But it still leaves it as the weakest starting position on the field.

And there just isn’t that many high quality right backs available right now. Can’t see us adding another raw player who needs coaching considering that’s what our options are right now. Think we’re most likely to just keep trying to bring Serge, Foyth and KWP along.

KWP appeared ready made to succeed Trippier/Aurier however the fact that Foyth played in front of him when both Trippier and Aurier were unfit makes me think Pochettino may not trust him fully (yet).

KWP is now 22 and as such would be taking up one of the 25 squad places , whereas the was a "free" addition last season. So I guess Pochettino will have to decide whether or not to sacrifice one of the 25 places, though he helps fulfil the "8 homegrown" quota.

I know this won't be a popular opinion but I'd rather sell him and not get someone in than keep him. I'm convinced that if either KWP or Aurier get consistent starts they can't be as much of a liability as him at the back.

Ideal situation is that we sign a replacement obviously. Other than Rose when he is 100% (which isn't often nowadays) our fullbacks are the area where we are furthest away from Liverpool and City. Davies is decent but a million miles away from what a modern full back should give in terms of overall offering.

My worry is that Rose isn't going to stay. If he goes we need 2 new top quality full backs if we want any hope of challenging.

Don't think KWP has shown he's ready at all tbh, looked out of his depth everytime he played last season bar bournemouth, one game every 20 didn't help obviously but I don't have full faith in KWP taking that spot considering Poch didn't have faith in him doing so last season to the point of Foyth getting more opportunities.

Fine with selling Tripper even if we don't bring somebody in there. It's not optimal but Aurier and KWP wouldn't be a total disaster. Extra £25m to spend on other areas. It's sensible business for a decent but average footballer who's 29 in a couple of months.

The Rose news is the most concerning.

Lol, everyone has been begging for KWP to get minutes and Aurier to get minutes all season, and to put Trips on the bench. Now we're getting rid and it's "I don't think the other guys are ready". Make up your mind.
Have you considered it might be a different group of people?

Why?

It's a limited sample size, but he was excellent there against City, and apparently was good there for Argentina. There's only one way we're going to find out if it's a long term option.
We need attacking output from our fullbacks almost as much as them being able to defend. Foyth is limited in this area, thus he's likely either going to get caught out of position defensively whilst trying to push on, or be ineffective going forward. He's also rash in the challenge still. He absolutely cannot start there for us if we want to compete.

I swear when KWP has been RB in a back four I could actually see the wide left forward salivating. Short, slight and frantic; an attacker's dream. Id love him to come good but let's see things how an opponent would see them.

Nothing against Foyth at all but I'm a bit frustrated that it appears he's being lined up as Trippier's replacement for this season. It's all well and good for him to be a makeshift option when injuries force our hand -- he's acquitted himself perfectly well at RB -- but it should not be his permanent position IMO.

Foyth is not a prototypical modern wingback with the dynamism to bomb up and down the flank, and unless Poch is adapting his tactics then what we need is that prototypical wingback. Aurier is the only player who fits the bill, but he hasn't gone a month without picking up a muscle injury in ages. Failing to replace Trippier with a new signing would virtually guarantee that we play the majority of our matches without an ideal wingback on the right side, and with Rose seemingly on his way out as well we'd be leaving ourselves with a pretty glaring weakness yet again.
