I cant understand whats going on with him. He was great last season and amazing for England in the world cup so he isnt shite but he's doing a good impression.
Is it confidence? He hardly crossed the ball at all tonight opting to cut it back and play safe. Was like watching Walker.
Somethings going on with him I'm sure of it. He is a much better player than he has been showing this season.

His crossing is regressing, maybe that's a reason why he's not crossing the ball as much - it certainly isn't at the level at it was 3 years ago for example.

We need full backs that can take on defenders and provide an end product, I just cannot stress how much of a difference it makes when you have dud full backs playing in a Poch system.

Walker is by far the better player. Was for us, and still is now.

Not even comparable for me.

No doubt, Tripper has probably had his worst season in 5 years. Not sure why. He is not as bad as he has shown. Can only be confidence.

He basically never overlaps, and rarely crosses early. Never takes a risk and is so predictable. Just slows every attack down.

Let’s not even start on his defending. He tackles by dangling his leg out and hoping. He has no positional awareness.

I fear for him in terms of having a future with us now.

Cant disagree with any of that. That fkin shove over to give away a freekick tonight late on was absolutely brain dead.

He wasn't great tonight, but I don't think it helped him that every time Toby played the ball out to him it was a foot or so behind him. It meant that (because he can't create the space for himself) the crossing chance was lost before he got possession every single time.

Yeah, was at game with my brother and we both said the same thing.

I think my exact words were ‘Tripper plays football like the dumbest **** ever.’

Even @Paolo10 would have to agree he was average tonight. RB is an area we need to look to upgrade. If the interest is really there, we should entertain offers.
Just to confirm, I think he was a much better player in the previous years, but it's gone beyond defending him now. He has lost all confidence and is bang average. His delivery is shocking currently.

I Think he is set on leaving in the summer, rumours he wants to go back up north for a while now.

We do need a more athletic right back tho, one who will take defenders on and overlap! Hopefully poch sees this in the summer

It's almost like he was doing what the manager asked him to do, whilst also still creating the most chances on goal in the team (4 along with Son).

Some real fucking dickheads on this forum.

Why the fuck are we continually going to throw the ball into the box against a team set up to defend with two huge lads in there?

We play to keep the ball and were all over them for the whole game because of it.

The manager asked him to not cross properly, to not defend properly and to generally play like he hasn’t ever kicked a football ?

He's shown he's a good footballer, he has a wand of a right foot when he chooses to use it. Unfortunately what he's also shown in his time with us is that he's woefully inconsistent and if we're aspiring to win honours then you aren't going to do it with guys who perform well 1 in 3 games.

On a side note, I do feel sorry for fbs in modern football though, they're expected to create at the rate of an old fashioned wide midfielder whilst being solid defensively. Thankless task for the most part.

Who set up Dele's chance in the first half? Who should have had a man sent off for kicking him?

He was the worst on the pitch tonight for us, was he? Yeah alright, yeah.

Yeah.

I think our fullbacks have suffered this season simply because of the injuries to Dier and Wanyama. A dedicated CDM allows our fullbacks much more freedom.

Certainly in the first half, our FBs were very narrow and we left the wing play to our wide forwards. That was the game plan, I would have thought.

Yeah.

Your defence of his poor form is really admirable, Mrs. Trippier.

It’s totally fair to say this is his worst season for us. He has regressed badly since a promising World Cup.

Can you not see that? Really?

Compare his performances to Rose, who has been far superior down the other flank.

We had little pace at all in midfield, certainly not defensively, which showed on the odd occasion when they broke.

They were set up to defend and counter and one of their main strengths as a side is in the air, Duffy's one of the best players in the league in the air and Dunk is no slouch. I swear to fuck some of you seem to know absolutely fuck all about football.
