Happy with that.
There's just something about big Kev that I really like, strong, quick enough, a dominant presence and seems like a good bloke too.

Just to add to this, he came in mid-season, in a league he's never played in, with multiple CB partners in a team that were all over the show.

He already looks like a good player, give him a proper pre-season and I think we have made an excellent signing. We were absoloutley screaming out for a CB, the only issue is that we didn't sign him on January 1st.

Danso and Solanke are the only players we signed who are not kids, surely we can see what the affect of this is and target more players of a similar age/experience.

This is good news. The steadiness of a centre back is an often overlooked quality, but Danso has largely been a steady presence is an unsteady season. He’s got the physicals for this league, and the temperament.

I don’t shake like a mastiff’s ballsack in mating season when I see him on the team sheet, which is always a good sign in life

For me it's his passing we need to see an improvement in. It's fairly wayward at times.
I mean for 20 mil he's great value. as you said his passing can be not great but he shouldn't be a day in day out starter. He to me is our early cup CB/bring on to help see out matches throughout the season.

I like this signing. I suppose we need to see where we are with our other central defenders this summer before working out if we are going to sign another one

I'd expect the first 3 you named to go on loan.

Dragusin is the real question mark
We may hold onto Vuskovic, at least initially, to see if its worth taking him through to being club trained. He has already had a very full season in Belgium (almost 3000 minutes), so he may well be a candidate to join Archie and Lucas heading towards CT status.

Ash Philips is a difficult decision as he may not be quite ready yet - but where should he be loaned next after >3000 minutes for Stoke? Maybe hold onto him with the squad until Radu is fully back?

And I think that Dorrington needs a Championship loan - not back to Aberdeen please.

Presumably we'll have Romero, VDV and Danso as the 'senior' CBs, with perhaps Phillips as a fourth choice?

Not sure if Dragusin will be kept on after his injury...possibly be sold next summer?

Another player we've signed twice which will be fun when people start posting what we've spent and when

Apparently seen with Conor McGregor and Katie Price last night on Ibiza.. before McGregor went on to punch some tourist in the face a couple times.

Is it well spent though?

If his ceiling is no higher than Phillips, Dorrington or Vuskovic, wouldn't it be better to be patient and develop these guys instead?
I think it is well spent. Came into the league and performed well. Already at this level and under appreciated.

I think Phillips will be off once we get an offer, Dorrington played in Aberdeen and didn't pull up too many trees (albeit after a long term injury) and Vuskovic is an unknown in this league.

We need more experience. Last season we invested in youth (Tel, Odobert, Bergvakl and Gray). We are going into the Champions League. I just don't see the youth being the answer this season, especially having not played at this level at this stage.

It's so rare for a young player to come in and not take time to get up to speed. This is notwithstanding that we are not exactly know for our conveyor belt of academy gems getting into the senior team.

Considering none of those were at the club last season and we at times had no other CBs, yes, money well-spent. He also was great towards the end of the EL Final.

"If"
If not, that's four years wasted.

All good points.

I suppose I'm worried that we're spending to stand still, so to speak.

We've got limited resources and the club won't be spending on brilliant, ready made players.

So if we want a crack at winning the league we'll have to do things differently. In my mind that means spending more of our resources on young players with a high potential and crucially, integrate them into the squad.

You look at some of our squad players over the last few years and you're left wondering whether we could have developed the same level of quality from our academy (or youth scouting).

Perhaps we should bite the bullet over a 3 to 5 year period and start a youth production line.

Would also help with club grown quotas.

Btw, ive got nothing against Danso, just wonder if there's a better way of doing things.
