... because Foyth recovered and tackled them? Which is what you originally intimated. I didn’t see the game so am relying on your description.
I watched most of the game. He did well in the main, but a couple of times he was skinned on his flank by Machis, their winger. He'll get challenged more in that RB position by better attackers in the PL. I don't see Foyth as a long term RB option for us. Still defensive questions, and not enough pace going forward.

He needs regular football I think, a loan move for a season would benefit him big time if he is not going to get much playing time again with us.
Wish Poch would let more go on loan than he does, can be the making of a player.

Foyth is a great player or will be. Poch is the master of all at developing full backs so if he thinks Foyth can play there for now then we might question him but don't have his credibility in this area

You either trust him, back him and want him to stay, or you don't.
Disagree rating for this closing sentence of your post: I don't think it's anywhere near as black and white as that, not even a little bit.

IMO, you can trust Poch, back him and want him to stay without agreeing with his every single decision. He's easily the best manager I've seen at Spurs in my lifetime and honestly I can't think of anyone working right now who I'd want to swap for him, but that doesn't mean that - for example - I don't think his decision to play Son at wing-back in that FA Cup Semi-Final vs Chelsea a year or two back wasn't absolutely bonkers.

Similarly, I don't think that Foyth is cut out to play at right-back currently, and I'm skeptical whether he ever will be able to show his best form in that position in the future. But as that's just my own opinion - which will prove to be either right or wrong years down the line from now - I don't feel that my support for Pochettino is undermined at all. He's still the man I want to see managing Spurs for years and years to come, and if in my own personal view he makes the odd decision which I disagree with from time to time, that doesn't change my backing for him.

Everyone is looking at Liverpool FB as example what we should be looking for. But IMHO it depends on how we are going to play. City doesn't have as good (in attacking sense) full backs as Liverpool and yet they won triple. Because they have more offensive force in the middle. Our main problem with full backs (right back especially) was that they couldn't defend. Foyth will probably not be as good attacker as TAA but he could be as good or better in defense and in general play as he has great technique, he is patient and intelligent. And that can do the job for us if we manage to set up the team to find attacking force elsewhere. Remember that we have great goalscoring middfilders in Alli and Eriksen. Liverpool doesn't.

Anybody think Foyth could grow into the 'Makelele' position for us?
Not if we’re selling him? A&C says there is a reason this thread is in the transfer section, maybe we should debate that rather than if he or Sissoko would make a better RB!

Foyth is young relatively speaking. Doing well. So i'm going to nail myself to the train tracks and say that poch would be crazy to sell him. Soooo I'd bet heavy money on him being here at the start of the season. I also think he'd end up a good central defender.
Come back and laugh at me August 10th.

Tend to agree, seems very unlikely Poch would want to sell him. So if this thread has been moved for a reason I assume it’s either:

- We are going to loan him out to a top 4/6 side in europe to get him a full season of match experience
- Some big side want to poach him and have enquired

Were not selling him. He was mentioned in some itk about a possible change of position, I think that's the reason this thread is here. If a player is mentioned by an itk, his thread tends to get moved.

I’d be shocked if we sold him as there seems little reason to, we bought him cheap, he’s very young with many qualities worth developing, he has three seasons left on his deal. Equally, I can’t see a loan as he’s getting game time here.

Apparently the ITK was about a change of position for him rather than anything transfer related.

Seems to me like he wants starter minutes now or wants a move away; hence the talk about shifting him to RB without bringing in a starter-quality RB.

Lads, I’m pretty sure it’s been moved because he was mentioned in the ITK. ITK can’t be discussed in the main forum, so it’s been moved here to allow us to discuss Herc’s positional change stuff. Nothing more complicated than that.

I think JJ did mention some ITK earlier in the window saying a few unexpected may be leaving...

In terms of the right back slot imo we need to have pace just don’t see any of our options giving us what is needed!! Someone touched on it earlier we need to get back to the walker rose years of them bombing down the wings just like what Liverpool’s are doing now! Rose and sess can do it down the left side but we badly need a right back don’t think foyth is the answer as number 1 choice

The Transfer forum I would guess is for transfer related discussion. I too was wondering/puzzled why it's been moved here.

Strange to move it here because our resident Itk have mentioned a positional switch or mentioned the player.
