Just had the same thoughts Jezz. We need a defensive minded player in front of our back four. Dier appears to be out of Poch’s plans atm. My other option was Sanchez. Both Sanchez and Foyth have pace too.

Seeing Winks and NDombele sat in front of a DM would push them a little higher up towards our front 3.

Yup. If Eriksen is away with the fairies, which he appears to be, I think a midfield of:

Winks ---- Nbombele
--- Dier / Foyth

....could work quite well. Ndombele given his fitness (or lack thereof) needs help for now. As does our defence

I think he'd make a brilliant DM.
He's got skill, can tackle and a great passer
I agree, I thought the same since day one. My only concern is he really lacks physicality to be a DM, but regarding his ability it makes a lot of sense. For me he is nowhere near quick enough to be a FB in a Poch team. Ether way, I really hope Poch doesn't play him in multiple positions, I always feel it hinders a young players development.

I'd like to see him used in the 'Dier hybrid' role where he drops between the CBs when we have the ball but pushes up into CM when we don't. Not sure that Dier now has the mobility to play that way.

I think he is too aggressive to play DM. DM is like 80% positioning. Which is probably part of his game that he still needs to develop. Would become a fan favorite in the roll but would not solve or defensive problems. Would be a bit like Sandro, who when not in a double pivot was pretty ineffective at stopping attacks (though extremely effective at winning the ball) which is why when we played him as the N1 DM we tended to concede quite a lot of goals! Fans would like him though, cos fans love tackles and can't be bothered with the boring quiet stuff.

I think he could be an effective CM though, if partnered with someone more disciplined. Him and Winks could be a little reminiscent of Pirlo and Gattuso. However, I think his future is as a CB, and I also fully believe that he could be a very effective and exciting right back. Foyth has a lot of talent for sure.

He just needs to play games, it’s that simple. He needs minutes badly to progress as a player
Agree, despite being at the club for a few years now he's still wildly inexperienced. He's only got 19 league appearances at the senior club level in his entire career, and it shows in the mistakes he makes.

I think this was a big part of the rationale behind playing him at fullback -- at least for Poch, Argentina is a different story as they're woefully short of options. Blood him as a fullback where his mistakes won't put opponents directly through on goal, let him gain experience and cut out the mis-steps, and then move him back to CB long term. His ability is clear to see, all he needs is time on the pitch.

Starting in a back four which consists of Otamendi and Rojo as centre halves. God help him and their opponents.

Pisses me off that he again is fit enough to play for Argentina but hasnt been fit since they last crocked him. If he hasnt been available for us he shouldnt be available for them. Especially as it's only a friendly.

First Half from him was okay,

The goals and basically all of the germany attacks came from the other side, if I was to be ridiculously harsh I'd say on the 2nd goal he might have caught up with Havertz although his CB didn't track the run.

He seems to be tactically treated like a child though, he gets the ball, plays a pass but he doesn't try and go for an overlap and I have to believe it's tactical, it's making him feel very much like a CB being asked to play RB. His passing technique has been very decent although another harsh criticism would be that his passes to the winger doesn't necessarily open up the pitch for the winger and leave him with a lot to do, although again it feels tactical with the positions the winger is taking up, not really allowing for a give and go.

Good half in terms of fitness, not filling me with immense confidence he's a future right back, I still think he'd be better off in defensive midfield personally.

Edit: Also his team doesn't seem to trust him, as I said he's being treated like a child but it's clear he should be trusted more.

I don't know about Foyth at DM, I think he has the attributes but that's a red card waiting to happen IMO.

This is a team with Rojo in central defence
