Sissoko RB beast incoming
I think i'd actually be more comfortable with Sissoko there tbh. But he would need a lot of practice with the defensive drills as it wouldn't be natural for him at first.

But he can defend well one on one, has the strength and speed to worry an opposing full back and is a team player. My only concern would be a final ball but at least he would probably get himself away from shooting positions at RB.

Has the attributes for it and basically played there when trippier played this season anyway :ROFLMAO:

I don't like the idea of Foyth at RB. Centre backs very rarely look comfortable there. He's not slow but he's just not explosive enough and in his albeit limited appearances there so far hasn't shown he can whip a quality cross in and beat a man. His defending seemed good though so as a defensive option he could be somewhat useful.

If you ask me, his perfect position would be a right sided centre back in a 3. Don't think he should be anything else but injury cover at RB.

Spot on mate, we need to get back to what made us really effective in 15/16 and 16/17, dynamic pacey fullbacks who stretch teams and create space for our creative players.

Foyth is sensational and has great confidence but this great confidence sometimes gets him to overplay and sometimes get into trouble with cards etc though I think his energy would serve him well in the future. Looking forward to him and Sanchez writing history for us and also Joachim Andersen. We will be a force like nobody has ever seen in 2 years

Sissoko’s got the engine to play exactly how Poch wants. Positional awareness will be the question, but he’s got a lot of really good fullback-qualities for me. Still not sure about his final ball, either. I do remember when he signed looking back at his time at Newcastle and he did serve up some good crosses.

You want to move our best CM from last season into RB? Is this a joke?

Liverpool have TAA who is quality, and we want to shoe horn players into RB? Deary me.

Foyth, no, just not explosive enough. As a back up maybe. From what I understand Herc is saying though, we will be signing a first choice RB if trippier leaves.

I don't buy this argument that our next RB has to be the dynamic pacey fullback type. Foyth has the potential to be more of a Ivanovic/Azpilicueta type player for us IMO, more solid defensively, able to play in a back 3 or back 4, pretty much the same thing I hoped Dier would become.

Yes. Because that’s exactly what I said. I simply said he’s got a lot of good qualities that if POCH decides to try him out there, I could see the logic behind it.

It all changes if we get a couple of CMs though. As it stands I wouldn’t move him there but with 2Cms in I’d be tempted to play him there over Foyth as he probably ticks more boxes.

Sorry but I can’t see the logic. He’s our best CM as it stands in an area we are already terribly light. If Poch was to do that I’d think he’s crazy.

you may all think you are getting away with it by hiding your blaspheming in the Foyth thread but higher powers are fucking watching you

The “is this a joke?” And “deary me”. Came across as somewhat aggressive to me in response to what felt a fairly harmless post, but maybe I misread

Huh? I quoted and was replying to snarfilicious, not you...or are you the same person?

I wasn’t being aggressive, just trying to put my disdain for the idea across as clearly as possible.

Sissoko at RB is a terrible idea for many reasons. I’ll leave it at that as this is the Foyth thread after all.

I remember all this debate when Walker left...can Dier play right back, should we try a winger there, KWP is ready...then we signed a right back instead because proper football clubs don't plug gaps like that.

Except that last bit just isn't true. Javier Mascherano was a DM before he joined Barca, he moved to CB to "plug a gap", despite not being a typical CD mould player, and won 5 La Liga's and 2 Champions Leagues with them.

I can't provide statistics so may be totally off the mark, but I feel like a lot of attacking play/space comes via our fullbacks. In 95% of games Foyth and two centre backs would be an utter waste and end in frustration.

Sorry, just enjoying the irony here

I'm not particularly keen on a back three personally but I do think that a back three of Foyth - Toby - Jan could work on certain occasions with 2 of Moura/Sissoko/Son/Lamela operating as a wing backs.

No thanks. Really not a fan of teams putting wingers/ attacking midfielders at wing-back. They’re two completely different roles.

based on selections in the last couple of months, Poch has Foyth pencilled in and I think he's gonna be good enough, and explosive enough

midfield is top priority this window

I really hope he reaches his potential but at this very moment in time I don't have much trust in Foyth in any position on the pitch if I'm brutally honest, he can just be so rash. The good thing is that the ability is there though, if he cuts out his rashness and mistakes I really do think there's a very good player in there.
