If he is staying, then he needs game time. Otherwise, it's not a good approach for his development. Why not try him as a defensive midfielder. Or mins at RB. Or screw it, stick him up front!!! Could work out like Ginger Pele!!!

Regardless, he needs a chance to show he is capable of avoiding mistakes and making rash decisions. He has tons of raw talent. It's just clear that he needs more time in real matches to get a better sense of how to read the game. For some CBs it comes naturally. For others it can take a bit longer. Van Dyke was not a world beater at 21/22. Otherwise, why wouldn't he have been snapped up like De Ligt? Cos he needed more time and experience for it all to come together. Which he got after two or three seasons at Soton.

The next six months will be wasted if he doesn't actually get to experience real game time. If all he does is train until the summer, that's arguably six months wasted. As we all know his problem is experience. So, let's give him some minutes.

So what happens to Foyth now?

Tangana has gone past him to be Aurier's backup. Sanchez and Dier and probably ahead of him to be backups for Alderweireld and Vertonghen at centre back.

He doesnt really have a place in the squad rotation.

Hasn’t Tanganga played more at LB since Jose has brought him up to the first team? He was great at RB against Boro, and played CB against ‘Pool, but the other appearances have been LB, haven’t they? He seems more of an all-rounder at the back than a direct back-up for one position in particular. It’s not unfeasible that he and a Foyth could both get game time.

Play him up front. He’s our new target man

i always thought that he would moulded to be a defensive style midfielder. He has the ability to tackle, Can pass and dribble with good ball control. Just feel we maybe are missing a trick. The only challenge would be his ability to read the game. But that ability is sadly lacking in a lot of our players.

Only played left back because we didn't have another one still don't until Davies comes back, Sessignon is now the other option now I guess. I am befuddled by the Foyth situation as I don't see him playing much at all and I do think a loan out might have been the best option, time will tell I suppose.

Personally, I'd like to see him at DM. Can't be any worse than Dier or Wanyama, surely. If he does lose the ball, at least he has a couple of defenders behind him.

Wasn’t even on the bench. So he gone this summer?

Quite possibly. Big mistake though. He made one mistake v Norwich (where I think he was fouled anyway) and seems to have been hung out to dry as a result. He played well in the rest of that game too.

We don’t know if anything has gone on behind closed doors though. Personally I’ve never been convinced but also I’ve said he needs a run of games to iron out his mistakes. A season long loan next year is what he needs as there’s definitely a player there who will get better with experience. I don’t think we should sell him but if we need to raise funds for other areas I can see it happening.

If he isn’t named in match day squad on Wednesday I think that’s the end of him unfortunately.. ....

I will miss Foyth, but unless he goes on a full season loan and kills it he will never establish himself here. I think it is a mistake to let him go, but I can also see the point that we can't afford him making all these mistakes (even if Aurier funnily enough might be even worse at that part of the game).

Wonder if we see him loaned out next season. He's got a contract until at least 2022 (not sure if there's an option, assuming their may be). You loan him out next year, give him the experience to either boost his value, show his worth in regards to a new contract and if not, you shift him on in 2021.

I just don't think we were in a position to send him on loan right now considering how short we are on defensive options given all of the injuries and guys with really bad injury histories. He's undoubtedly a talented player, and I really hope we don't give up on him too early.

I know he's been inconsistent but if we are going to play 3 at the back might be the time to give him another chance over Verts
