I think that could well be right for CB. But not for midfield.

For the life of me I can't understand why he's not being given a go at DM. I really don't get it
I'd imagine that's probably because you're not one of our coaches with access to daily interaction with Foyth, copious amounts of analytics on Foyth and even basic conversations with Foyth.

Foyth is in his third season at the club, and in that time we've had severe issues at DM. The fact that he's never had a go there under either manager suggests that there probably isn't any justifications to give him a go there. Neither manager is afraid to experiment with players positions after all.

He's a centre back, maybe a right back, if anything. Whatever he is, I think his future will be elsewhere anyway, because as talented as he is, he is only 18 months younger than Sanchez and just over a year older than Tanganga, both of whom seem far more developed than him and have their entire careers still ahead at the top level. I don't see Foyth getting the game time he needs to catch up, never mind surpass, those two players as long as he remains at Spurs.

...unless he plays at DM you mean?

This may quietly embarrass me in future years but I feel that Foyth is one of those players we will eventually regret not persevering with. Yes, he is raw, possesses excess self confidence, has lacked judgement in making tackles around the box and has a propensity to cough the ball up in defensive areas....but I predict that he will one day make a good career at one of Europe's big clubs like RM Barca Inter or Milan,. Nurse can I have my hot chocolate now I need to go to sleep:LOL:

I would be disappointed to see him leave on a permanent or loan-to-perm option at this point.

There's clearly a lot of raw ability there, a loan to somewhere like Norwich, Watford, Bournemouth, Burnley etc could help him no end. Even somewhere like West Brom, Fulham or Forest.

Just anywhere he's going to get some regular minutes, really, because that doesn't seem to be here.

In my opinion his issue is - and always has been - a physical one.

He's not that imposing or athletic, and most of the top CBs have at least one of those capabilities in the modern game.

When he makes mistakes, as young players often do, his lack of either makes a recovery a lot less likely. This leads to poor decision making and rash tackles. Partly this can be solved by teaching positioning.

I would send him on loan and see if he can develop a bit. He's definitely good on the ball.

I agree, he’s way too weak to be a centre back. Look at Tanganga, he’s very inexperienced but he’s both fast and built like a tank. Even Sessegnon whom could do with beefing up is still able to shield the ball and hold his own. Whereas Foyth is like a centre back version of Tom Carroll, blows over in the wind lol

Exactly this with regards to his weaknesses. I suspect he also underestimates the quickness/speed of his opponents too. Given his age, loaning him out to get game time would seem to be the smartest move possible. And get him to a team with great defensive coaching.

There’s so much potential i feel in Foyth if he can iron out the mistakes his a RR type of player.

Hard to tell what Mourinho thinks

Same exact problem Walker-Peters has. Both are very good footballers but lack the physicality and speed to match their technical ability. Get bullied too easily, which is untenable for a PL defender.

Also, we have an actual left back. His name is Ben Davies, he has 52 international caps, hundreds of Premier league appearances and is the only member of our squad to have (in this country) won one of those shiny things called a trophy.

There's another guy at this club who was in the same squad that day.

True, forgot about him. Now fixed OP. But let's not pretend; he wont play another game for us.

No he won't. It must be really frustrating to be on the bench for the biggest games in your career - the league cup final, champions league final, world cup semi final.

So what happens to Foyth now?

Tangana has gone past him to be Aurier's backup. Sanchez and Dier and probably ahead of him to be backups for Alderweireld and Vertonghen at centre back.

He doesnt really have a place in the squad rotation.
