A lot of 'Yeah well he's not a very good keeper
and hasn't been for some time.
but he's a winner
and great in the dressing room
and an inspiration to the youth'

So put him on the coaching staff
and not in goal

If Jose's staff have (so far) magically fixed Hugo's prepencity to drop a clanger, I'm sure they can improve Hart.

Goalkeeping is a confidence game, anyway. It won't have help Joe's game for Pep to come in and instantly say "You're shit mate, piss off out of this side" when Joe's been pretty much his entire adult life, seeing the complete transformation of modern Man City and winning titles. Next thing he's palmed off to all the shit clubs that play in Burgundy, with crap defenders in front of him. Yeah, he'll look pants. It happens. Goalkeepers and strikers both have the same sufferance of low confidence in that way.

He's been class before, and with some love and training I'm sure he can get near that again.

Exactly, our defence is shit, put Allison in goal, he's gonna flap but people love to believe hype

In defense of Hart's effort in the 1-0 goal to Watford, our defense made a pretty sloppy job and running with their backs towards goal
View attachment 72869

When you breakdown the goal and what Hart can see it is really poor, and is more than being 'rusty' his whole technique is wrong.

You can see from the first frame he gets his first view of the ball when it is still outside the area

From there he has clear site of the ball and his initial positioning is decent, the ball is not heading into the corner of the goal, so Hart doesn't have to move far to make the save. It should be a routine save for a top class goalkeeper to make.

The problem as the earlier posted highlighted is his technique, as the ball comes towards him he moves is left foot away from the ball and is now further away from making the save then he was when the ball was stuck and now his balance is all wrong to dive to his left. His dive becomes little more than a token dive as he has little chance to get down low from the position he has put himself in.

I see your point of view, but there's also the other Watford player involved in this attack. The one behind the line and Hart's position is in the middle of the goal. This could be for the reason that A) Hart is positioning himself to either rush out and stop the Watford player or B) A shot could easily deflect right or left.
Imo there's at least three players blocking the view and the shot is actually pretty well placed.

Is he up to being no.2? Probably not but Hart in on a free, Gazza out for money, we all know the score.

Thought Joe was fine last night, his kicking was pretty good some lovely long range passes and you can really hear his constant communication to the team when there is no crowd.
Couldn't do anything about their goal but most of all I think the video below sums up why Jose signed him, Jose knows we need winners and strong characters and like him or not Joe is certainly that.

Loved the interview below and how he like Jose demands the absolute best from the team game after game, these kind of players are usually a big influence on helping teams to get over that line and win something. I feel like that's the most confident, focused and happy he's looked in a long time, I think Jose will be a great manager for Hart.

Got to be one of the reasons we signed him. His leadership and experience are vital. Need more people with this mentality in the dressing room.

I always felt like that with Gallas. Love him or hate him he brought a bit of professionalism to the dressing room imo. I remember him calling the team out as having the wrong attitude when he joined.
Shame he played for those pikeys.

His leadership etc don’t seem to have done Burnley or West Ham much good. Just because someone shouts a lot does not make them a leader.

Good thing he’s won a few titles including helping City win their first and also 70+ England caps.

like I said. Didn’t benefit Burnley tho et al did it. Not having a pop at him but not following the blind love just because he’s joined spurs.

Think there are bigger problems there though. He is clearly as leader and has the attitude of a winner. He is not content with winning while playing poorly, Bale and Kane are clearly the same. It’s those players that drag you over the line when things get tough. Glad to see him in our colours.

maybe, maybe, I’m just saying this amazing leader people talk off was shipped out by West Ham and Burnley (I’ll give him a pass on Torino with the language issue).
