Actually ever since Mourinho came to us, I realised the fan base has been very polarised in support of players. Hardly now is the notion of 'club-first'. As long as any (new) player who is already deeply-impressed in a negative way in the mind of some, it will take alot to accept that he has now become a part of Spurs.

Maybe we are now signing PL players (not very often we did usually) who many have seen the way they play was not what they like. But I thought at least we are getting PL-accustomed players. I am surprised some here even do not rate PEH at all.
The issue with Hart is that he hasnt shown he’s still close to a good keeper. He’s fine for a 3rd keeper and helps the HG quota which is good. But if we intend on selling Gazzaniga, which it seems we’re open to, we better sign a replacement backup keeper.

I think Hojbjerg is a great signing. I was excited we were linked with him in January. Wish we somehow were able to sign him then. He’s a good DM, knows the league well and a leader. What’s not to like about that signing? I dont understand people who dont like it.

I sort of wish Hart came out and said he wanted to fight for a first team place rather than be happy with he's picked or not. His confidence took a beating for England (kind of like Robbo) and he never got it back.

Pep was pretty much an arsehole to him from the get go, saying he wanted a goalie who could use his feet, then he signed a absolute joker in Bravo who couldn't even save a shot straight at him.

He's a premier league winner and could well down the line be a coach for us.

If Jose can get his career back on track, he would like to give a smug nod to Pep that he got the best out of him, wishful thinking maybe

I thought it was the best welcome interview I've seen. He said everything right and felt like he meant it. And I think his remaining hunger level came across, just in a different way than "I'll beat Hugo".

Is it likely that Hart is going to be number 2, we sell gazza and promote one of the youth keepers to number 3 to get the UK quota up?

Not sure.
If we thought one of the youngsters were good enough, would we have gone for Hart?

For me Hart is in to give the youngsters a few more seasons to develop.

One of the benefits of no crowds is getting to hear the players talk.

Hart, albeit on the pitch for 20 something minutes, was talking all throughout his appearance. It was amazing to hear what he was saying, shouting out confidence towards players and showing loads of motivation for the players. Loved hearing it.

Also heard Lloris doing it but not like Hart was.

I have just made a bit of a wild assumption based on the game time in the friendlies. Hart gets 30 mins with Gazza 15.....who knows.

I think unlikely unless we really dont rate our young keepers. Young GKs need to develop and play games - we cant offer that to a 2nd or 3rd choice keeper. Think we're more likely to loan out our young keepers for experience and keep Gazza to compete for number 2 with Hart.

If we can get a decent fee for Gazzaniga then selling him isnt the worst idea. But a decent fee would have to be 8-10m

Reading had a free kick and you could hear Hart asking for two in the wall but only one player went

after they took the free kick you could hear him screaming ”where was the second f’king player?!!!!”

I was thinking about this and hart’s form over the last few years. Before Guardiola joined Man City there were no real question marks over Hart. He was part of a defence with strong experienced international players and the season before played well. Has he had that since then?

West Ham - zabaleta reid ogbonna creswell. I just looked up the season he was in goal for them and he played 19 times. But over the whole season (Not the games only he played in) they conceded 3 or more goals 14 times! I’m not sure many goalies would have made that much of a difference to a defence like that.

Burnley - Lawton, Mee, Tarkowski, Taylor. He also played for them 19 times. But over the whole season they conceded 3 or more goals 11 times. So again he played behind a defence that conceded a lot of goals in games. Although they did have a dramatic turn around in clean sheets last season with a consistent goalie.

What I’m trying to say is that maybe he is suited to playing behind a defence that is used to playing in big games with defenders that are used to dealing with a demanding presence behind them. Sagna, kompany, otomendi, kolorov are a defence more like ours. Established experienced international players.

Basically, if he plays, the defence will be comfortable with him behind them. He just needs to save the shots or better still help the defence stop the shots in the first place.

Well, of course the defence in front of him makes a huge difference.

The problem with your argument is that the same Burnley defence had an amazing defensive record last year with Pope in goal.

I’m not saying Hart can’t get back to somewhere near his best, but most of your argument is extreme wishful thinking.

We're so fucked if Gazzaniga leaves and Joe Hart is our actual number 2 and plays Cup games and in the inevitable LLoris injured matches.

Because Joe Hart, the goalkeeper, not the speech holder, has shown in the last seasons you can not really trust him anymore.

I'd be worried too if we start with just two senior goalkeepers. Not saying we need to keep Gazza, but if we sell, I would be All In for another experienced HG keeper who pushes Hart for the #2 spot.

It’s just a shame he hasn’t been able to put his hands where his mouth is for the last 3 years +

it’s all on their strength of character, but goalies often end up resulting after a poor period.

Gomes played almost no football for 3 seasons till we sold him to Watford aged 33, he became their first choice and was very good for them for 4 seasons.
