How the fuck is Hart still only 33? Feels like he's been around for ages

Makes a lot of sense. Addresses our home-grown issue and Hart himself is better than Vorm and also strikes me as a better fit in a Mourinho squad than Gazzaniga. It’s also getting another personality into the squad who has leadership qualities and a winning mentality. Listening to his latest interview as well it seems his spell at Burnley has humbled him somewhat. Seems some of the arrogance that hampered him has been ironed out which is another good sign.

No he isnt. Gazza’s much better than him. He’s a #3 keeper for us. Backup for a lower Prem side. He isnt that good a keeper anymore. And Hugo could always get hurt again. Gazzaniga has to be the #2. If he os sold, we need another #2.

Gazza’s clean sheet ratio is something like 11%, get out of here

So far we seem to be making some very sensible decisions. It almost feels like we have a clear strategy.

A new DM with prem experience and good leadership qualities.
Other key areas reportedly being addressed.
Ledley King added to coaching staff and new youth set up.
New contracts for Dier, Skipp and Tanganga.
Championship loans for Skipp and Parrott
Vorm and Vertonghen released.
Homegrown back up keeper.

This all feels very un-spursy.

Always thought it was criminal to have 3 foreign spots taken up by 3 GKs, he's a bit over the hill but equally the kind of sensible signing we should make to maximise resources elsewhere.

There’s no way he’ll come in as third choice, it would be an insult to his ability and his record:

- 2 Premier League titles
- 1 FA Cup
- 2 League Cups
- 4 Premier League golden gloves
- 75 England caps

Bringing him in as Hugo’s backup makes perfect sense. Good for our HG quota, brings a winning mentality to the dressing room, and I imagine he’s a bit of a ruthless bastard too.

Crucially, as much as I love the guy, he is a class above Gazzaniga, who I assume we’d be able to get £5-10m for.
Have you watched Hart play at all the last few years? I suspect not.

Gazza will be off. This is a move to increase home grown quota. Absolutely a good kove IMO.

He'll be a good character to have around too.

Be happy with this, although we should be scouting like crazy to identify Hugos next in line.

I'm not sure Gazza will be off. Hart and Gazza to go for the back up spot.

Hart hasn't done anything in a few seasons to show he is any better.

As for home grown, we might not think any of the youngster keepers are ready to be 3rd choice. Hart in gives them a season or two to develop.
IM SORRY GUYS CAN I NOT SLEEP FOR ONCE

anyway, sell Gazzaniga, open up a non-homegrown place and bring in some money.

One the window closes :coffee:

I genuinely really like Joe Hart and I kinda feel bad if he’s gonna be our third choice.

Not sure there’s any need to feel bad for him - he would have had offers from other clubs to be first choice but instead will sign here knowing full well we have Hugo and Gaz.

Hart is also supposed to be a cracking bloke and excellent in the dressing room - I think he’ll be a strong addition with his leadership and experience as well as slotting in nicely as part of the squad. Sensible business.
