He looked really good. It's players like these that made me love Poch, he took chances on young players.

Gutted Poch didn't give him a chance.

It's quite baffling since he looked good in pre-season (yes, I know it's pre-season) but our defending has been shocking for so long. I love that he seems to have genuine pace but what really stuck out to me was his block in the first half. He had split second to decide whether or not he should go left to make a block - just seemed like the right decision came to him instinctively.

Thai block was something. I saw a Ledley King blocking that. It was uncanny.

I really hope he signs and he needs to start to show we believe

Did he and Sánchez play either side of Toby? That could be the way forward, especially given that Sessegnon is, in theory, made for the left wing in a 343 (Sissoko would do well on the right of that as well).

Very good debut for us against the toughest of challenges

Hopefully becomes the great defender we all hoped CCV would grow into

He looked really solid in that tucked in half RB half CB role, play him there and Sess on the opposite side with the same central pairing as today and I think we've found our (temporary) defense

Best signing we could make in Jan is signing this guy up and actually keep playing him, looks like Mourinho is a fan too so hopefully we can now convince him to sign up. Given how we’ve defended this season and how good he looked pre-season almost criminal it’s taken this long to get his chance, would love to know the thinking on that.

Very good debut, but let's not overreact like we do with every young player with a good game.
Hope he gets more game time, but it's still early to tell. It's been only one game in which we parked the bus
I can see a ban coming up for you young man. You're talking way too much sense which goes against rules and principles of this forum

He looked so big and showed amazing brute force for a wee pony. Just needs a cart stuck to him so he can carry a few more players and he'd make a terrific Tonganga

I'll get my coat

Even at LB he looked better than Rose for years. Love a CB with some pace, Toby next to him and Sanchez should be amazing for us. When Davies returns we will probably stop leaking so many goals, just need a DM now.

He looked great in preseason and I was very unhappy when it was suggested that he wasn't going to sign a new contract. Glad to hear Jose rates him.

What an assured performance.

Unfair to compare I guess but I'm gonna do it anyway.

Has Foyth played as good a game for us?

When you get your opportunity that’s how you take it. Not getting ahead as others have said it is only one game, but given all circumstances it was a very very good performance
In response to the foyth comment - when foyth got his chance did he play as assured, I’m not so sure...,

Loved his interview about putting the performance behind him and on to the next one.

It's that kinda attitude that Jose will love.
