Good for him but yet again we miss out on any sort of fee for a player.

I thought he had a 1 year option - couldn't we have extended and at least received a nominal fee from Millwall for him?

Our youth production line used to produce talents which we then sold for tangible and useful fees - these days with both youth and senior players if we're not paying them off we're letting them go for nothing.
Maybe they thought they wouldn’t get a fee if they extended the deal. It’s much easier for Tanganga to get a deal as a free agent then a transfer. Same logic probably applied to Ndombele and Sessegnon. Ones already got a new club and there are rumours about Sessegnon going to Palace.

Spurs have always had problems shifting squad players for transfer fee so I don’t blame them for releasing him.

We’ve got a very busy summer ahead in terms of incomings & particularly sales. Made little sense in extending to earn, as you rightly say, a nominal fee.

I think a lot of people underestimate how difficult transfers are. This made so much sense all round.

Good for him! Seems like cracking lad, and the players and fans there seem to absolutely love him. Hope he goes on to have a long career.
Good move, he’s needed to drop down a division for a while, not sure why it took his agent so long to find him this type of move tbh.

Maybe he had a couple of prem clubs show interest that didn’t materialise? Kept his options open for a few weeks knowing Millwall were always available.
Fair play, he’s not left them waiting too long - he’s in for pre-season.

I had high hopes for him, he has the skillset to be an excellent defender. Quick, good on the deck, aggressive.

Sadly injuries really did mess up his career. If he stays fit, I can see a real Winks style comeback. If he lives up to his potential he's definitely a PL player.

Good luck to the lad, just needs consistent gametime.

I think the transfer landscape has changed and many of the bigger clubs will struggle to move squad players for a fee, as the likely clubs interested in them can't afford the wages on top of a transfer fee. I suspect Sess was on a decent salary that could be afforded by a top 6 team, but a top 6 team doesn't want him, and this will be the common thread going forward.

Strange turn of events
Clubs agree fee a month ago, with spurs looking to exercise an option for another year do they can get a fee from Millwall.
Player turns down the deal in order to get a better offer from a team higher up in the championship or overseas.
no offers materialise, so he leaves on a free
A few weeks later he agrees a move with, of all clubs, Millwall.

Has the agent played a blinder here or totally clocked up?

Did we insert a of buy-back?

He’s in the form of his life. More clean sheets than John Lewis. Now adding goals too!

Upon a quick google search it would appear you’re correct. Great business from Millwall. Fair play.
I think he always had the potential but fell foul of the terrible way we handled our youth system, along with some unfortunate injuries.

Good to hear that he's doing well though, always nice to hear ex-youth forging a career for themselves.

Hes miles better than championship level but playing week in week out is massive for him after the way we handled his career. Wont be surprised to see him jump up a level if he stays fit.

Always looked a decent enough player but wasn’t up to the level required. Looking good in Championship is very different to top end of PL

Im a South East London lad so have a few mates who are ST holders at Millwall. They absolutely love him but are also very aware that if they don't go up or challenge the playoffs that they will lose him next year. Also scoring the winner for Millwall against Leeds is about as good as it gets for the fans so he is now a genuine legend for them.

Never really had a run of games sufficient for that to be established.
Sometimes young players just need that bit of luck.

He started very positively for us then got injured. On his return our centre back options were much better and he had some poor games while getting back to fitness and being bit part.

On his loan abroad he seemed to get more injuries and couldn’t establish himself.

Once he did stay fit and played regularly his club loved him.

If things had played out differently he might have had a career at Spurs but that doesn’t mean we did anything wrong in his development or letting him go.
