Jan is one of the longest serving, most experienced and best players in the squad.

He has now been coached under Poch for more than 5 years and should have known poch’s Minimum fitness standards for games by now.

If Jan was not up to the standard fitness levels that Poch demands, then I think it was the right decision to drop him, even if only as a msg to all the new boys and the younger players in the current squad.

However if that was the reason that he was dropped, then I think that he has been ‘punished’ enough and should be given a starting berth in our next match.
not if hes not fit enough

I want to see Verts come back asap, but my worry is that he is going to be very rusty as he hasn't played since preseason.

Disgraceful. Pochettino isn't seeing the woods for all the trees. He picks one lacklustre CB for the starting line-up, then goes on to take one LB off, put one unfit LB on, take one RB off, move Sissoko down to RB, all these bullshit changes are prioritised ahead of sending on Vertonghen. Big fuck you to Vertonghen, well I say big fuck you to your "principled" mis-management, Pochettino.

How is it "bullshit" to take off an injured player? KWP couldn't continue and we needed to bring on an attacking player.

It's only 3 weeks since he last played. Had he been out injured for a few weeks, I don't think anyone would think twice about him going straight back into the team against Arsenal. Unlike with an injury absence, he has actually been in full training the whole time.

None of us know the full details about why he isn't playing though. Perhaps Poch is fully justified to bench him. I'd also be interested to know how he ended up with a black eye.

How no idea how you read that. It was bullshit moving Sissoko down when one could have moved Alderweireld out wide and put Vertonghen on the pitch. Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen I find stronger than Sissoko, Alderweireld, Sanchez.

That would have been defensively stronger, but it was at the other end of the field that we were lacking. We instead brought on Eriksen, who was our best player from the moment he stepped onto the field. Our tempo increased instantly and, unlike the rest of our team, he actually managed to stretch Newcastle around the pitch with some intelligent passes.
Had Poch subbed on a CB at that moment, the entire stadium would probably have (rightfully) been booing.

In your opinion, what do you think happened? I think it was probably an accident in training, if it was something serious like a fight or something, Poch wouldn't even put him on the bench.

Jan is the glue that holds our defence together, and that's been the case for the last 3 or 4 seasons. Toby is half the player without him, and Sanchez is horrendous as his replacement (I rate Sanchez, but not as a LCB).

If we don't get him back in the team soon we're in for a long season.

Only defender we have who can read the game. It's why he's so good.

Has to be the first name in that defence.

Anyone who thinks Sanchez is a better CB than Verts needs to give their heads a wobble, and that includes Poch.

He is costing us points with his team selections like leaving Verts out, let alone his tactics and formations.

It's a pisstake.

Get him back on the pitch FFS. We are going to be giving up a huge points lead in the league after just a few games if we're not careful.

I don't care what he's done, He needs to play

Still not confident he will play vs Arsenal, hopefully after the international break Poch can put this bs “uncertainty” excuse to one side & actually pick his best players ...

If Jan or Dier were going to be eased back, then they would have got some minutes against Newcastle. They have had no time this season, and is the NLD the game to make wild changes?

We have a lot of fixtures and Jan will get plenty of games, but this is likely to be his last season here imo. Same for Dier. The purge has begun and there is little logic to it.
