Vaguely remember getting hammered by Stoke with him and Chiriches playing at CB. *Shudders*

At least our current Argentinian and Romanian CB's more than make up for that disaster duo.
id forgotten all about Fazio! Was he the slowest player ever to play for us I wonder?

Anthony Gardner can also be included in that list. He was signed during George Graham's tenure and somehow remained with us until Ramos's first transfer window- 8 years at the club.

His highest number of appearances in a single season was in 2003/04 when he played 40 times for us, including 33 Premier League matches. That season, we finished fourteenth, trailing behind the likes of Portsmouth, Southampton, Middlesbrough, Birmingham, Bolton, and Charlton. We also had the joint second-worst goal difference among the teams that avoided relegation that season.

Weirdly - if you said who would you re-sign from that list - I would have picked Gardner 😂

Gardner was ok, he made quite a few mistakes in his younger days, but he was much better when he was older, just incredibly injury prone if memory serves.

I still remember his screamer against Oldham.

Fazi Bear had some great years with Roma after us. TBF his play style (being slow) works in Italy with all the back 3 low block they play out there.

haha I put myself out there. I must take what comes my way.
I'd like to join you on the scaffold if I may. Romero has better ball control than either and a better short passing game and can get us out of any fix with his great technique imo.

In the air though he's not nearly as good as either imo.

I can't get the Newcastle game out of my mind where they won 90% of headers in our box:poop:

Doherty was signed in March 2000 and left in August 2004, so he doesn't really belong in a list of poor players from the 1990s. You won't hear anyone arguing about his lack of ability, though.
