Fabrizio Romano said his move to Benfica is done, 3 years contract

Benfica are quietly building a strong team. It’s election year and the president don’t want to lose his place so they going crazy on the market after having a shocking season

They’ve brought Jorge Jesus back as the manager who did a fantastic job with them 2009-2015 and at Flamengo

They will sign Vertonghen and Everton Soares from Gremio and are also trying to sign Cavani and Waldschmidt. They already have talented players like Ruben Dias, Grimaldo, Nuno Tavares, Tomas Tavares, David Tavares, Carlos Vinicius and Jota

Will be very interesting to see what they can do next season

I dunno. Do they have enough players named Tavares to be successful, though!

The funny thing is none of them are related. Think they copied us with Walker - Walkes - Walker-Peters but they decided not to change anyone’s surname

I'd sure love to pick a couple of them to join us.

Would love Ruben Dias and Nuno Tavares (attacking LB) and also I didn’t mention Florentino Luis (DM) because it looks like he’s leaving

Also we were linked with Jota when we had Poch

Peak Vert's and Alferweireld was a thing of beauty. A sentiment posted by myself numerous times, and one I make no apologies for.

Was an excellent signing for us.

Lisbon's lovely as well.

He is likely to win championships there and play in the CL so it's a good move for him. Will keep him in the Belgium squad too.

The only thing is. The emirates is essentially a replica of Benfica's stadium. That must be surreal.

Making an impressive team
Pizzi and Rafa Silva are class players as well and Cervi is decent.
Bought in Weigl in January, which surprised me, he was class for Dortmund a few years ago

I'm surprised.

I always thought the play in Portugal was fairly quick one touch football.

I hope he does well but I was expecting Serie A

Is pretty quick, but still slower and lower level than the PL, he will be fine. Apart from sporting, porto, braga being the good teams, Rio Ave, Vitoria, Familcao (last season) also being decent, the level is lower championship to league 1 level

Thank god he didn't sign with another PL team.

Im still so sad. I love Jan so much. Our best defender for so long, including 18/19.

I love him too ? we’re so lucky Barca never came for him in his prime when they went for the likes of Vermalean and Umtiti and whoever else the fuck. What were they thinking? He would’ve fit them like a glove. Graceful beautiful ball playing CB who was also an incredible defender.

I just watched Jan Vertonghen score a potential winner in an UCL qualifier (PAOK v Benfica). Pity it was an own goal.
