I think he lacks the physicality to do it at the top level.

I was watching Szoboszlai and he is light years ahead physically. That is what we need.

I don’t think he will be here in two years and, if he is, something has probably gone wrong (or stayed the same)

Yep. Luxury player who wants to play no10 and not work the other way.
Szoboszlai played a similar position, worked his bollocks off and was a constant threat. Involved in play and making runs into the box (very easy for him as Bissouma didn’t once get within 5 yards of him).

I think back to Eriksen and the shift he used to put in under Poch.

He wasn’t a good tackler but he never stopped running and constantly used his energy and intelligence to block off passing lanes.

The difference between him and Maddison is a sick joke. How we have fallen.

He and Eriksen are light years apart as footballers. As mentioned earlier, Maddison is a luxury player, okay to have on the bench but not as a starter.

But remember how much people still moaned about his perceived lack of grit and not putting the boot in enough. Those were the days eh..

I would play him LW. He’s a threat, but having him in the midfield leaves us weak.

Keep the midfield tougher and more compact. Have Deki and Madders on the wings.

We’d still score goals and would probably concede less

Sarr & Bissouma yesterday were so poor at passing through the lines, never on the half turn. First instinct was always to go back. That was because Liverpool pressed really well but to beat it you need brave technical players. Maddison simply wasn’t getting the ball in any type of dangerous positions.

Part of Maddison's responsibility is to go get the ball, and help with the build up.

If he was not getting the ball, its because he was not putting himself in position to demand the ball.

And, nearly every time he got it - he went down under contact, sometimes drawing a foul, sometimes not.

He doesn’t work hard enough to play LW. Our left back would constantly be exposed, more so than they are with Son.

Maddison does what he's asked to do. For some reason he was asked to hug the touchline when we were in possession. Occasionally it worked, and we managed to progress up the left, but our plan to build out from the back was terrible yesterday.

Maddison snaps back at fan criticism after darts appearance

Tottenham midfielder James Maddison has snapped back at a fan who branded him "unacceptable" for attending the World Darts Championships shortly after the draw with Wolves.

Just hours after Ange Postecoglou's side conceded a late Jorgen Strand Larsen equaliser in the 87th minute to make it 2-2, Maddison was spotted with team-mate Brennan Johnson at Alexandra Palace.

After images emerged of the England international watching the likes of Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright in action, one fan commented on the situation in anger.

"The form we're in and you go the darts? Unacceptable,' the fan wrote on Maddison's Instagram account.

To which the Tottenham man replied: "Shut up you wally," with a laughing emoji attached to it.

🤣🤣🤣

We've got some stupid idiots as fans in all honesty.

How dare Maddison and Johnson enjoy their free time enjoying something they have an interest in.

Regular people have a bad day at work and go somewhere to blow off steam, why can't footballers do it? They're still human at the end of the day.

Assuming they even are fans and not just wind-up merchants. I honestly don't know why footballers bother having *public* social media profiles (as opposed to private ones for actual friends and family etc). I wouldn't bother.
