Neither. Is this because we have the wrong players for our system, or the wrong system for the players we have?
(No, I won’t leave this be)
So wouldn’t that fall into the category of system that doesn’t suit our players?Neither.
Our strategy is obviously to play the wingers high and wide to stretch the defence.
Maddison isn’t the kind of player capable of doing that.
Not when we are relatively injury free. You can’t account for an injury spree to a single positionSo wouldn’t that fall into the category of system that doesn’t suit our players?
I’m not asking anyone to account for it, I’m suggesting that a decent coach would accommodate it, respond, react to it. Do something different as a result. Not when we are relatively injury free. You can’t account for an injury spree to a single position
Nah. You can’t invest that kind of training time to a temporary problem. Because that upends a lot of different positions.I’m not asking anyone to account for it, I’m suggesting that a decent coach would accommodate it, respond, react to it. Do something different as a result.
No, because Maddison isn’t a winger. What you’re suggesting is the same as questioning if we have a flexible manager because he refuses to play Dragusin up front. So wouldn’t that fall into the category of system that doesn’t suit our players?
I honestly think you’re just trolling at this point.I’m not asking anyone to account for it, I’m suggesting that a decent coach would accommodate it, respond, react to it. Do something different as a result.
I put that in the same category as sonny keep on saying the same in interviews. Talk and gestures are easy. Lead on the pitch not after the game has finishedAfter a couple of minutes delay, Maddison was the first player to come and clap the supporters. A few sheepishly followed him.
He was booed, as is understandable after that showing from the team, and kept clapping anyway.
That's the leadership we need. Start him at City.
Agreed. I really want us to be brutal next summer. We need to take a long hard look at this squad and decide who isn’t up to scratch. Whilst I think we need to give some leeway to younger players in general we don’t have the squad space for water carriers. Everyone has be able to meaningfully contribute and everyone should be vying for a starting spot.Average player capable of purple patches.
Takes far too many touches and too long to release the ball, lacks consistency and quality. He also lacks fight and disappears far too easily, not the kind of player who’s going to drag us back in to matches when things are going wrong.
I would sell him in the summer and replace him with a proper talented CAM like @Ghost Hardware man Alex Baena.
I keep seeing this being posted about a lot of our players “not showing leadership.” But what does that even mean?I put that in the same category as sonny keep on saying the same in interviews. Talk and gestures are easy. Lead on the pitch not after the game has finished
You can spot good leaders a mile off on the pitch. They shout and bollock when they need to, they encourage, they lead by example when things aren't going well, and one thing they do more than anything is they don't allow those around them to slack off. What they don't do is go missing when backs are against the wall.I keep seeing this being posted about a lot of our players “not showing leadership.” But what does that even mean?
How do people know they aren’t showing leadership? Because they aren’t shouting at the other players? Or because they’re playing badly?
What represents good leadership?

Maddison has never really worked well as a LW, he’s doesn’t have the pace or physicality, he’s best as a CAM/n.o10, however physically he doesn’t suit this current style having to sprint up and down 60yards all the time.Is this because we have the wrong players for our system, or the wrong system for the players we have?

Sonny is more a club captain than an on field one for me. He's a wholesome role model poster boy, not someone you'd want to be stuck in the trenches with
Exactly. He’s not being played on the wing
