I’m Maddison’s biggest fan, wanted him at Spurs for years but it was interesting seeing a few Leicester fans saying something along the lines of “it’s the start of the season so Maddison will play well”

I hope that’s a load of bollocks and we don’t see him drop off like last year. I don’t expect him to be a 8 or 9 out of 10 all season as all players go through a lull in form but hopefully he’s a bit more consistent this year.

This would suggest they are onto something but let’s hope it’s just a coincidence with injuries etc and that 21/22 is closer to what we’ll get this year in terms of getting better as the season goes on.

Ange talked about him last week and said that when his body is not quite right due to injuries and niggles it affects him more than some players. We’re totally reliant on Bergvall coming on and providing another option as there’s no way Maddison can play 50 games this year.

I agree but I still don’t really see, in the short or long term, Bergvall being a 10.

Couldn't actually tell you what Maddison brings to the team currently. Wouldn't be making the first 11 for me.

Disagree, I think he’s been very good in the three games so far this season. He’s always looking to make something happen.

Was very unlucky not to score today.

He's been OK to start the season but given his responsibility IMO it isn't enough.

He has no competition for his place and it shows in his performances.

He also isn't as good as he thinks he is (he isn't Pirlo, he can't play the game at his own pace).

He got turned too easily for their second goal. I am also concerned about his fitness. He seems to fade after 60/70 mins.

I must’ve watched a different game to you then as he’s the one who makes us tick and I think he’s been very good so far. Granted he can only last an hour, but as others have said already, he really is the least of our worries right now

This. He was very good. It seems people don’t rate him unless he’s scoring Worldies or doing some insane magic round the box but I thought he was very good. Was spraying the ball about a lot, most of our best moves he was the player putting in the great long passes.

And yet it was his rash challenge on Joelinton that cost use a goal on the weekend. The fact he had a full pre season and fades after 60 minutes is an issue. Early days and quite a few things to worry about and he is among them.

He’s an ok player but he’s not top class imo and he’s too inconsistent. Last seasons first 10 games seem to be a purple patch in line with what happened at times when he was Leicester.

There is a big difference in class and quality between him and Odegaard for example. I also think there’s a significant difference between him and Eriksen when he was here.

I hope he can step up this season.

He does have his limitations. And there are worrying signs about his overall fitness levels, and his capability (relatively speaking) to deal with a large volume of games.

However, we struggle for creativity (even more) when he is not playing IMO, especially considering the general lack of creativity/technical ability in our WFs. Hopefully we can address this in future windows.

He's a bit of a 90's type of footballer. Ironically exactly the sort of player Conte needed; a creative attacking midfield hook/10/trequartista/whatever. In this team I don't think he get's enough space in the areas he usually operates in.

He was gassed and had been booked so the manager should’ve subbed him earlier. Not Maddison’s fault he’s expected to start our attacks by dropping deep to receive the ball from the centre halves and then provide creativity in the final third too. No wonder he’s blowing.

He’s the least of our worries

Weird comment for a player who has 2 assists in 3 matches.

Personally I think he has started the season a lot better than he ended the last one.

I think 10 games is too long of a period to be considered a purple patch
