Some great saves but what was he doing running out from his line in the second half and colliding with Tananga? Those impulsive decisions still need to be ironed out of his game. Although I guess they never will be.

So glad he’s back though.

The more he plays with Japhet the more they'll get used to each other, minor thing really.

Really good game against City pretty average tonight not what you expect from your captain

Pretty reactionary considering we've not even finished the first half of the game youre alluding to yet. Axe to grind?

athletically he's a freak, but his decision making is shocking at times. If he ever sorted it out he'd be the best keeper in the world.

Lloris was way more of a madman in terms of coming off his line under AVB. Poch reigned him in quite a bit. I think he has a pretty nice balance now, even he's made pretty baffling errors in that regard in both our last games.

He is a good shot stopper, he can be incredible on the line. We all know that.
But we also see everytime he needs to leave his line it is almost guarantueed it will be a big mess and sweat.
For me he needs to prove himself until the end of the season.

Just a question to the people that want to replace Hugo. Is it such a priority to replace him that you would sacrifice strengthening in different areas, who should we bring in that would be a massive upgrade and what would be the expected outlay? I mean, I also believe that we could get someone better but I also fully believe that Hugo is more than good enough.

Lol that's not really true is it? The guy is a proactive goalkeeper, which means there will always be some mistakes, but the stats clearly show his style of play saves far more goals than it concedes.

His penalty saves against City in the CL and the recent league game, show how important he is. We went onto win both, it gives the team and the crowd a lift. He's not perfect, never has been but he is better than what we could get.

I didn't think he would play for us again after his injury, he could quite easily have left and gone back to France for an easier pay day to finish his career. I'm happy he is still here though and we will need him to put in a great run from now until the end of the season, he will be massive if we have any chance of getting top 4.

If half of his errors have been in big games then wouldn't that suggest that it could be a psychological issue? It would be interesting to know if other top keepers made more mistakes in the high pressure games.

The whole team has psychological issues in big games. THey all look like they're nervous and never up for it.

The stats show absolutely nothing clearly. They give a clue not more. Maybe they would show something different if you just include the games after him winning the world cup. Since then Hugo is at best an average goalkeeper in the Premier League. Hate to say it as I like him but thats how it is.

As example just the last game against Saints were the ball rolled into his 5 meter box and he stuck on his line where it was just luck that Long/Ings shot it on the bar. Or even at his great game versus Man City where he had the worst timing to get out of his box and ran over Japhet.
Don't get me wrong, still a wonderful shot stopper on the line, but it does not tell the whole story about him.

Personally I see the need of a DM, RB and maybe a back up 9 as more important. But that all depends on how Hugo is coping with the rest of the season. If he is doing fine we can definitely do with him especially as an experienced captain but he needs to show it on the pitch.

The stats are evidence that Hugo Llloris is both an elite shot stopper, which is undoubtedly the most important aspect of goal keeping, and an elite sweeper. Sure, he may fall a bit short in other areas of the game, but it's baffling that any fans would suggest getting rid of a player who's at the top of the league in such key areas just because he sometimes makes mistakes.
