you're absolutely correct that i acted like an idiot. I got swept up with the sensationalism of reaching the final. I should have maintained my view on Hugo, but I got romantic and sentimental myself about our club captain and a very loyal servant.

Best player of the decade? Not even close, Hugo highs are towering, but his lows are just as deep and it's not just because of the position he plays. We need more consistency from the position imo.

I respect your stance, I do hope Hugo makes a full recovery both physically and potentially mentally, but it's time to respectfully move on.

Respectfully, the only things inconsistent here are your opinions about Hugo. :D

Anyway, we both have shared our opinions about Lloris, we will see what time has to say about this. (y)

Another one to add to the ever lengthening list. I'm looking forward to Levy showing definitively whether he really is in this for the trophies or for the balance sheet in the next 2-3 years.
We all know the answer to that.

Too many people are far too sentimental about Hugo, ever since we became challengers he's almost shrunk within himself, to the detriment of us wining trophies. and while he'll always be able to make the unbelievable saves he consistently struggles in the biggest moments to correctly diagnose the danger and make the saves that he should.

Compounding his distribution from the back especially in high profile games always has the potential to put us under unnecessary pressure because he doesnt read the game well enough.

It's a personal preference but I much prefer a steady goalkeeper than a spectacular. Just as long as that steady keeper has more mobility than the Brad "Cement boots" Friedel.
Hugo literally dragged us to top 4 last season.
Hes done his part, our defence and midfield were disjointed and non existent since Jan 2019.
Before you scrutinize a keeppers supposed distribution, you look at the defenders and midfielders including your golden boy Harry Winks. Their distribution has only been side and backpass and even those are laboured and full o sht

Yup I freely admitted that i was horrible inconsistent. I hope I'm wrong about Hugo by the way. But he looked like a broken goalkeeper psychologically before the injury and for me that'll be the biggest challenge for him to overcome. Cheers.

No Arsenal's and United's incompetence secured us top 4 not any player's outstanding form.

The whole squad needs freshening up and that includes Hugo.

I like Winks but I've critisized his purposeless style of football plenty of times. But Harry unlike Hugo has time on his side to increase his capacity as a footballer, were as Hugo, at this point in his career is what he is.

Definitely time to upgrade Hugo. I’m hoping he moves on once Poch leaves.

In my mind as captain they are inextricably linked and both aren’t good enough and I hold both partly responsible for us failing to win trophies over the last five years.

I don’t like Lloris as captain and the only consistent thing about him is he chucks the ball in the net in key games. Let’s not forget how he got his injury.

He’s not good enough. Sentimentality needs to go out the window in elite sport, move him on and let’s get a better goalkeeper who can use his feet.

It's all right, we obviously disagree on this but I'm sure we all just want what we think is best for THFC. (y)

Crazy that his best days for us came when we were shit. I'd like to thank him for his service, but it's time to move on and the injury gives us the best opportunity to do so.

I agree with that view wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, Hugo has to accept his fair share of the blame for what has happened to us, along with a whole bunch of other players. Of course, I hope the guy eventually makes a full recovery and returns to full fitness as he's been a long and loyal servant to the cause, but it's time we had a major upgrade. Just look what Liverpool and City did when they upgraded their own goalies.

I dunno but I just don't rate Hugo that highly, makes too many errors for club and country. Terrible with his feet, often gets done with shots from wide angles, nowhere near the world's top 10 keepers in my view. France can indulge him not sure Spurs can.

I was thinking same, reckon Lloris will look to move on in the summer as he’s been clear last few seasons he was here for Poch.

Wonder who we’ll go for?

Hugo will go wherever Poch goes. He's said as much in the past.

Watch a few of our players do the same.
This rarely happens in reality. It's football, you have to get over a manager being sacked and move on. I'm sure they loved playing for Poch, but I don't think there will be a mass exodus to join him, it just doesn't happen.

One of the first things Jose should do is make Kane Captain and not Lloris.

Good thing is with Hugo being out that decision is made for him and he can keep it that way even when he recovers. Whereas Poch would have been obliged to give him the armband back.

Lets see about that. I certainly hope so

Sad for Lloris that he is not fit. I'd love to see him in match fit form playing in a different system than the Pochettino system of the last 12 months.

The only two who I could ever see going with him in future are Lloris and Sissoko. The others either wouldn't want to go or would not be for sale.
