Agree with this

Just look at Gomes, ability wise he was a fantastic keeper, but he lacked the mental edge that the top keepers have.

Friedal, in comparison, although not as talented as Gomes, was a more solid keeper because he had a much stronger mentality.

I reckon Gomes was the most naturally talented goalie we’ve had at Spurs since I’ve supported us in 87. I’ve never seen other goalies make some of the ridiculous saves he made. Just a shame he had those mad moments like you say.

Without him there would have been no CL under Harry.

That game against arsenal when Rose scored his debut goal Gomes made a couple of absolutely ridiculous saves he had no right to make.

Such a nice guy too. Still in the country I think working with Watford. Although I’m not sure if he’s hung up his boots yet.

He played in the league cup earlier this season.

I think watching this helped me understand the Gomes enigma a little. He's such a lovable bloke but is clearly also a bit fucking nuts. It's easy to see how his eccentricity sometimes spilled out onto the pitch, and not always to the benefit of his team.

Unreal game. Some amazing stops. Great keeper and loved him giving Serge a bollocking after that save from Martial.

Kicking still suspect and leaves a lot to be desired but a great leader and a good game tonight.

When he's good he's very good.

I think if Jose is going to want us to soak up pressure and then counter quickly a decent shot stopper is perhaps more important than one with excellent distribution?

Very good game from Hugo tonight, but it reminded me of when Jordan Pickford was amazing at Sunderland - he fucking had to be due to the number of shots on target they were conceding.

Hugo is brilliant, so underrated by our fans.

Apart from Alisson and Ederson, there isn't another keeper in the league that I would trade him for.

Perfect time in that we have no money and several much higher priority positions to address?

This. Given how many positions where we're in desperate need of signings, why some people want to just create another hole to fill for no reason is beyond me. Even if, for argument's sake, we say Hugo is no longer at his best, his worst is still a solid PL keeper IMO. We have far bigger priorities than GK
