What were peoples thoughts on him today? I'm definitely not his biggest fan but thought he had a decent first half along with the rest of the team when Newcastle were not really pressing so much. Second half thought Newcastle upped the pressure and that's when he kind of reverted back to his usual self.
I thought he played well. Better than Lo Celso who I far prefer, though I’d caveat that by saying I think Lo Celso isn’t as effective that far advanced as he’d have been in Winks position.

Thought he was ok and did his job fine. I'm not his biggest fan either.

It's such a shame because I thought all our lesser talents such as Davies, Sanchez, Dier, Hojbjerg, Winks all had their best games of the season today. It's been overshadowed.

Thought he was much better in what looked like a 4213 setup with 2 holding CMs and LoCelso behind the forward line. Looked comfortable alongside Hojbjerg and was a bit more progressive with his passing too, especially in the first half.

Thought he was very good both in and outta of possession. Starting to come out of his shell imo, but still needs to up his game. He made a few forward runs from midfield which weren't picked out, but is a dimension to his game I've always wanted to see him add.

I don't think that was how we set up. Again, it was clear that PEH was told to play further forward than Winks. Doesn't make sense to me.

Apart from one moment of really weak defending against Joelinton when he and Doherty went to close him down and just breezed past, I thought he was really good today.
I get people not rating him at times, but I think the hate for someone who is clearly a Spurs fan himself, I find very disappointing. Are they only one of our own when they are Kane’s level?

Game of two halves, very good first half, average second and very sloppy at times.

Played well yesterday, normally, Im quite negative towards him. Hopefully he can build on it.

He frustrates the fuck out of me with his reluctance to even attempt simple incisive passes. Granted he can spread the play well but watch when he’s under pressure to pass forward, he goes sideways to Hojbjerg every. Single. Time.

I’m not saying he didn’t pass forward but that’s where the stats are skewed. I’d love to see a breakdown of who he passed forward to. I almost guarantee most are to the full backs or PEH

19 went to Hojbjerg, highest of his passes. Next was Lo Celso on 12

Just to add. Hojbjerg had 21 passes to Winks, next 2 Doherty and sanchez

And that's why he looked ok yesterday, because there was no pressure on him.
He'll always look comfortable with a 9 man defence in front of him.
Hojbjerg played a couple of beautiful forward passes yesterday, Winks didn't.

I'd like to see much more 'give & go round the corner' passes, especially in games like yesterday.

Over time, I can see it being him or Hojbjerg but not both too often.
